Good morning ladies!! Happy Friday!! It's been a super relaxing week for the most part and I've enjoyed it immensely!! But I'm also excited for the weekend because dh is home with us! Today the girls are going to a movie with a friend and I'm taking DS someplace for either lunch or ice cream. Then I'm doing laundry and cleaning up the house the rest of the day. Fun stuff. I need to make time for a workout at some point too. I was thinking about this yesterday...since we have several new people that are popping in from time to time, why don't we all re-introduce ourselves? I'm a 39yo mostly SAHM to 3 kiddos, a 13yo boy and twin 11.5yo girls. I do work VERY part-time during the school year for a lady who owns her own in home daycare. She only takes teachers kids so we get the same schedule as the teachers for the most part. This past school year I only worked 1 day a week for 5 hours....near the end of the year, it was only 1.5 hours on that one day. I'm not yet sure what I'm working in the fall. It all depends on how many kids she ends up getting since 4 of our kids are going off to kindergarten. I'm also married and just celebrated our 17th anniversary earlier this month. I've been on this weight loss/getting healthy journey for 13 years...I started just after my ds was born. I lost 50-60 lbs before getting pregnant with the girls. And kept going after they were born. Ok that's good enough! Have a great day ladies!!

brandy327 What a great idea! My name is Francesca. I'm 44 years old, married for almost 16 years (August anniversary), three kids-dd 14 about to go to HS and it's freaking me out!, twin boys 12.5. I've been at this weight-loss thing FOREVER. I've promised myself that this is the LAST damn time I'm doing it. I'm getting the weight off and not EVER stopping (I've heard maintenance can be hard)! I teach high school level French at middle school so I'm ALWAYS around hormones, snark, and some pretty great kids for the most part; BUT I'm so happy to be on summer break! Just got back from my workouts--did the boot camp today: core and burpees. Oh, how I despise burpees! I can't for the life of me get down fast enough, push my legs back and pop up with out looking like I'm 95 years old! I'm flipping SLOW! The core part--OMG! I don't know how I'll laugh or sneeze or turn over in bed the next few days. Apparently I have a week core--who knew? I did a 3.3 mile walk afterwards. My thighs/quads are still really sore from Tuesday night/Wednesday morning's workouts and I just could NOT get into the groove. I was stiff and I felt like my knees were going to pop out the back of my legs! My time was almost my worst time ever, but I'm going to be gentle with myself. I just had a cortisone shot in my foot and it hasn't really gone into full effect, I'm sore from my other workouts, I did do a 1 hour workout before this one, and it's been 3 weeks since I could put sneakers on since I whacked the crud out of my foot on a metal chair. All in all, I'm feeling accomplished, but tired! Going to get some breakfast in a minute. I had a quick snack before my workout, but I'm starting to feel light-headed now, so I think it's time for food! This afternoon, I'm taking the kids to see Finding Dory and probably ice cream. We were supposed to go my last day of school but we got crazy storms roll through so it didn't happen. Today's the first day I don't have a ton of running around to do so I want to enjoy it! Have a great day everyone and welcome to all our new members!

Good morning my friends.
I am 41 years old. I am an elementary school teacher. I have an 11 yo ds and a 16.5 yo dd. My hubby travels for work, so I am a part time single mom. I love to putz around the house and pretend I am a decorator. I am a perfectionist when it comes to my home. I am currently craving light, so I am kicking around the idea of painting our interior. Someone stop me. Lol!
A little over a year ago I decided to take back some time for myself. I started with the Bikini Body Mommy (BBM) workouts on YouTubre and fell in love with my results and energy. In February I added in running. We have a love/hate relationship. The days that it clicks I love the way it makes me feel. The days running is a struggle I want to throat punch running. However, I running makes me feel like a badass. Lol! It is something I never thought I could do, and the simple fact that I do it makes me feel like a freaking boss. I get off on people telling me I'm crazy or they could never do it. Runs in the rain...super badass. Lol!
I don't do scales. However, I have gone from 12/14 to a 2/4 in the last year by eating sensibly and exercise. I am in maintenance. I do not obsess over food. I try to eat healthy and still eat fun stuff. I'm talking to you See's Peppermint Patties.
Today's agenda... Take the kids downtown for the food truck fair on the square. Stop at the pharmacy Stop and buy paint Grocery shop BBM lower body workout Run

Oooh, a wonderful idea, Brandy! Can't wait to come back later and read everyone's! I am Patter, 51 years old, married 27 years with identical triplet girls that will be 22 in September. Whew, how did that happen? Anyway, I was always tiny (110 lbs. when I got pregnant with the triplets). Only gained 40 lbs. during my pregnancy but then began to yo-yo once they got older, we got busy, and it was harder to find time for me. I lost it and got back down to 125 lbs. which was a good weight for me. Then my daughter had 4 back surgeries and 2 heart surgeries in the past year. I let myself go again. It was a very hard time. She is about 3 months out from her last heart surgery so I am getting back to "me." I have lost (I hope by Monday), 30 lbs. since Feb. 1st. I hope to lose another 20 lbs. or so to be where I am comfortable and healthy at this age. I feel great. Just getting that almost 30 lbs. off has been a huge blessing. I used to work full-time until the kids were born. Then I worked part time teaching childbirth classes for a large hospital. Then I began homeschooling the girls 8th-12th grade so I stepped out of all work. I have not gone back to work and do not plan to. The girls are in college, and I love seeing them grow into beautiful, Godly women. Anyway, thus too much about me. Next. . .

Hi! I'm Barb. I'm 42 and will celebrate my 21st wedding anniversary at the end of next month. I've never been much into anything "athletic" - was never on any type of sports team in school. I remember taking a health assessment sometime in my late 20s/early 30s and my "physical age" was downgraded because I was not flexible enough to touch my toes! A couple years ago, I tried to watch what I was eating in order to start losing weight. I was able to make a few changes that stuck (no more Coke, for example) but not enough changes to make a significant difference.
Last year, my work partnered with a local running shop to offer a beginning 5K training program. I've always been interested in running and took advantage of the opportunity. My DH and I did it together. The first workout was a one mile run to place us in groups. I walked a good portion of it. Gradually, my running stamina improved. We have been in training programs ever since last April. I repeated the beginning 5K program last summer and have now mentored the group twice. I joined the 10K group in January, running in my first 10K in March and I did the women's triathlon training group this spring, having never been a strong swimmer. I took swim lessons for six months and completed my first triathlon a couple weeks ago. Up next will be half marathon training.
In addition to the running, our eating is much improved as well. I've lost over 25 pounds. It's been an entire lifestyle change.
I'm not a fast runner or the most skilled triathlete, but each workout gets me closer to where I want to be. I met a lot of great friends through the training groups and they have been very encouraging and supportive. I've never felt like anyone has judged or looked down on me for not being as talented, in fact, at the triathlon, every member of our training group stayed and waited until the last person from our group finished, cheering just as loudly for that last person as they did the first person. It was awesome. (I, however, am my own worst critic!)
If there's a goal you want to achieve, go for it. It will take time and won't always be easy or even fun, but it will be worth it.
Yesterday was a good day. I walked a mile during lunch and took a yoga class that was taught by a friend of mine. Afterwards, I walked the border collie for a couple miles. It was a beautiful night for a walk. Today and all this weekend, I'm volunteering to help with a dog agility seminar. We may ride bikes tonight, but that's probably the only workout I'll get this weekend. Maybe run on Sunday night.
Have a great weekend!

For fun and totally not related to our health & fitness thread - the lefthand portion of this photo popped up in my memories on FB this morning so I updated it. I realized that I don't have a great 2016 photo of me and dh so that's my project in the next couple of weeks.

Hi, I'm Tuesdaysgone (Carla). I'm 52 years old and married 22 years with no children. I'm an elementary school media specialist, a job I really love. I have a small frame and most of my life I was a slender person. If I did gain weight, I was always able to take it off fairly quickly. Then I hit age 45 and every year since then, I found maintaining my weight more and more difficult. For the longest time, I just gave in to the weight gain. I couldn't find the motivation to make the changes I needed.
Last year I found myself about 12-15 pounds heavier than I'd like to be. My clothes were tight and uncomfortable and I just didn't feel good, physically or mentally. I began to change how and what I ate and got back into walking. I also began yoga classes. Initially, the weight came off fairly quickly but as I get closer to my goal, it's more challenging. I'm not trying to get back to my real skinny days of my 20's & 30's; I just want to feel good and have my size 8 clothes fit me well once again.
I don't share many of my struggles with friends or family in real life. That's why this daily thread is so important to me. It allows me to bitch, celebrate, commiserate, discuss food, and check in with other wonderful ladies who are each going thru a similar journey and understand. On days when I'm not too motivated, your words and success stories get me back on track. I also feel "accountable" here.

These are fun to read. I'm Julie, 39, single mom to an almost 9-year old mini-me, who I refer to online as SG (short for Sweet Girl). I'm a teacher and part time photographer. I've always been into sports but my nutrition didn't always align with my activities. At my heaviest weight I was competing in triathlons. Almost 5 years ago I drank the CrossFit kool-aid, trying out a Foundations class I had found on Groupon. After years of being unhappy with my gym workouts I found something to love. Just over 4 years ago I joined my local box full time and haven't looked back. Now I do CrossFit, weightlifting, and running. (How's that?) Coaching last night was fun, I ended up with about 20 people over 3 classes. DD was a total trooper and even did a scaled down version of the workout with the 5pm class. This morning I got up and went to CrossFit after dropping DD at art camp. Pause squats (so, a back squat with a 3 second pause at the bottom), weighted step ups, and then the regular class had rowing, v-ups, 400 m runs, and planks. It took me a solid hour to stop sweating! DD is having a friend over tonight for a sleepover--our first time hosting, so DD is super excited. The friend's mom is working an event in Daytona tomorrow so we'll head over to the beach until she's done. I love that when I asked DD what she wanted for snacks she automatically went to fruit, cheese, and drinks (Capri Sun, which I usually don't buy but is great for a beach day). No chips or cookies or other junk. I mentioned yesterday that DD's dad had called her chubby. brandy327, you asked how I handled it and I didn't make it back to the thread to answer. I asked her if she felt like she was chubby and she said "well, a little". So we went over all the positive things she does to stay strong and healthy and I really tried to stay focused on that. I didn't feel like saying something like "Well, you're not." would be productive in her mindset. She's very aware of how unhealthy her dad is but it's his words that are sticking out to her, which shows how words matter. Hope everyone enjoys their Friday!

So apparently I was pretty tired this morning which may partly explain my sluggish pace walking this morning. I slept for just over 2 hours! Ack! Granted, I only managed 5 hours last night before I got up for my work outs, so I obviously needed it. I got in a great breakfast--a chicken spinach feta link, 1 egg over 1 slice toast and tomato and some grapes, strawberries and kiwi. So yummy and it hit the spot. Oh, and coffee....mmmmm.....coffee! I didn't have time for a cup before I left this morning, so that was a welcome delight. (Can you tell I adore coffee?). I have got to get myself moving....need to get the kids to the movies!!! Then I need to grab some groceries to make some muffins for tomorrow's swim meet and get some stuffed peppers for dinner. Ah....I love lazy summer days! I'm loving reading everyone's posts today--even though I "know" you, it's nice to know you better!

Hi ladies, haven't posted in a while. I feel like I just say the same things over and over and it can get pretty boring!
I'm 28 years old and have been married to my husband for almost 5 years. We live in San Diego and both work full time. No children. I have always been one of those lucky people who can eat anything and stay thin, but as I've gotten older I have noticed the pounds creeping on, so I decided to start working out regularly now when it is easy to develop healthy habits. I alternate between swimming, jogging, circuit training, and the occasional barre class when I can go as a guest with my BFF. My goals right now are to just maintain my current size and to make healthy choices at meals. Sometimes it can be difficult at my company because we seem to have catered lunch or breakfast every other week!
This past month has been hard. Lots of birthdays and other celebrations with lots of food and wine. This weekend is the last birthday for a long time so I'll have no excuses to get back on track.

What a great idea to introduce ourselves. I learned something about everyone here.
I'm Stephanie and I am 47 yrs old. I am married and we live in Central California. We have two boys who I adopted 14 years ago. They are 19 and 16. I'm the Director of Finance for a Family Crisis Center. DH is the Director of IT at a local hospital. Our oldest lives with his GF and so we just have the 16 yr old at home.
I was an athletic person growing up. I swam competitively for 12 years and played on intermural sports teams through my 20's. 6 years ago I blew out my knee and had to have reconstructive knee surgery and the weight gain started after that. We went through a very difficult time with our oldest son and our marriage was on the rocks at the same time...more weight gain. At my highest I was 210 lbs and in a size 14. Last November we had family pictures taken and it was the first time that I realized I was overweight. On the heels of that, my doctor told me I needed to make some drastic changes or my health was going to be effected. I went home that day and joined Weight Watchers and we bought a treadmill.
This morning I weighed in at 162.5 - I am 2 1/2 And my health is not a concern (says the doctor).
I'm the happiest I have been in years, I have so much confidence in myself too. I love our little group here - it's been a great source of motivation for me.
We are off on vacation tomorrow. I will probably post while we are gone but not as much as normally.

She's very aware of how unhealthy her dad is but it's his words that are sticking out to her, which shows how words matter. Hope everyone enjoys their Friday! I think the way you handled it was perfect. And I agree, just saying she's not wouldn't really accomplish anything...I know it wouldn't with my girls. Quite a few years ago, one of my dd's asked me if she was fat (and none of my 3 have ever been fat...they've had periods right before growth spurts where they've put on a little weight but then they've shot up). I first corrected her and told her that "fat" isn't a good way to describe anyone (I have major issues with the word when it's used to describe a person). And I asked her what made her ask the question...she said it came from her brother (brat ). So we sat down not long after that and had a talk (to all 3 of them) about how everyone comes in all shapes and sizes and there will be times in their lives where they'll weigh a little more or a little less than the "norm"...but the most important part is to be happy in your skin. Like you, we talked about the ways to stay healthy - making healthy eating choices AND exercise. That same dd that asked if she was fat, has more body image issues than the other 2 of my kids...simply because she's built differently than they are. Her twin and ds are both naturally super thin. They're both solid muscle and lean. DD tends to take after me...curvier. Out of the 3 of them, she makes the best choices with food and she realizes that staying active is important. I pray every day that they continue to follow a healthy path so they don't have to fight the fight I've had my whole life.

I'm Kristi- 56 years old- retired middle school teacher from SC. I'm divorced and have 2 adult daughters and 3 granddaughters. Being short and having big boobs are my main problems- every pound collects around my middle. I have been working out for over 20 years on and off. I've never been overweight, but I took one look at the Christmas photo from last year and saw a big frog sitting there. I knew I had to step up my game. So, OJ, sweet tea, and processed foods were the first things to go. I switched gyms and started going faithfully 4-5 times a week- working on my own. My body started changing- belly was going away slooooowly- not fast enough for me though. In May I joined a private gym with a trainer who makes out my workouts and monitors my food everyday. Even though it's not one on one training every time, he holds me accountable. And I have done exercises that I never would have attempted on my own. My routine now is regular gym 3x week and private gym 3x week. I am constantly sore, but that's ok because I can see change. My food choices are so much better now- I just need to stay away from those Yasso yogurt bars...

So 2 pieces of news...one great, one not so great. LOL The not so great? I realized today that my new birth control is totally messing with me. I'm on the same one that I've had now for 6 years (was implanon, now nexplanon). It's good for 3 years, inserted into your arm, and I absolutely love it. EXCEPT when it's first put in. I always seem to forget that when they change it out for a new one, the first month it really messes with me. I've had on and off spotting pretty much since they put it in 2+ weeks ago. Today, it was almost period like again (I know, I know - way TMI). BUT - it totally makes sense why I have been ravenous these past couple of weeks AND no weight loss AND the constant bloated feeling. If I remember correctly, it took a month to 6 weeks for everything to get back to normal last time. So here's hoping I'm near the end of it. And the great news? I was going to do my C25K this afternoon but instead waited so I could go for a walk with dh when he got home. The kids were at the fields at the school playing while dh and I walked. I jogged for as short stint...and dh asked me if I ran as fast as I could or did I just barely jog. I told him I've NEVER in my adult life put it ALL out there when running...I've never been in good enough shape. So when we had a pretty decent straightaway, I gave it a shot. My phone tracker tells me I topped out at 5.9mph...when I do the C25K, I jog at 3.3mph. I didn't think I could go even close to 5.9. I can't do it for long...maybe 30 seconds. But I did it 4 or 5 times in our 22 mins walk. What a feeling to be able to run hard. It scares me a little bit because I'm the least graceful person you'll ever meet...and I'm scared that I'll get tripped up and fall and really hurt myself. But damn it felt good!! And my dh was SO proud of me and said that he was impressed. So our 22 min walk/run only burned 194 calories but I met my step goal AND got some sort of workout in. Today is a good day!!

I'll bite the bullet and play. My name is Mary, 45 years old, married. I'm Mom to two girls 19 and almost 13 (next month) I've been lurking and reading these threads the past few weeks. You all are so inspirational. I've struggled with my weight for probably close to 20 years. About a year and half ago I lost close to 75lbs doing Weight watchers, got lazy, stressed out and put on 50ish lbs. So here I go again. I recommitted to weight watchers about 3 weeks ago, after a horrifying trip to six flags with my youngest. First time ever I didn't fit on one of the rides. I was absolutely mortified and heartbroken for her. I told myself I will never put myself or her in the situation again. The poor thing is brave and rode it alone. I injured my back about 2 weeks ago, so I'm slowly getting more active again. I just got a fitbit so if anyone would like to add me my email is Maryclemom@aol.com
I'm intrigued by the BBM workouts some of you have mentioned. What equipment is needed to start them? When I'm 100% I usually do spin class, but also enjoy the stairmaster. I love a workout where I sweat a lot. Someday I might be brave enough to try a crossfit class.

We love when newbies join us! I'm sorry to hear about the Six Flags experience. I went years and years without going to amusement parks for that reason. I knew I wouldn't fit so I just didn't go. The BBM workouts seem to be really great (I've watched a few and plan on doing at least the upper body ones) and don't require much more than some hand weights as far as I can tell.

Good for you for making the choice to make you a priority. (That was a terrible sentence. Lol!) All you need for BBM is a set of weights and possibly a yoga mat if you are working out on a hard surface. I would start with the 5.0 series, day 1. Don't worry about her being ahead of you. You can do this!

Hmmmm... I am not sure. Maybe try cropping it so it is not so tall? Maybe the measurements cause it to be turned.
