I <3 my Silhouette but have been noticing lately that the cut lines for print and cut are a bit off. Like millimeters of white space (even smaller? what's a millimeter? I'm American!) on the top every time. That led me to believe it was a calibration issue. So, I did the calibration on all the crosses and it was cutting correctly on the vertical axis, but millimeters above the line on the horizontal axis. Every time. Then I print and cut a bunch of labels and it was still doing it, no surprise.
I don't know what to do next! Trying to avoid calling and getting into a whole "did you try turning it off and back on again?" with customer service. I am attaching a photo of what it does. And it also cuts off the same amount of the shape on the opposite side, if you know what I mean. The cut is the right shape and size, it's just slightly off-center from the printed image it's meant to be cutting out.
Please let me know if you know how to fix this! Thanks, peas!

Is it off the same distance all the way round ellewood? The Silhouette FAQ says 'If misalignment is not universally the same distance off around the entire image, then calibration is not the proper course of action and further information about setting up print & cut files should be reviewed. If misalignment is universally the same distance off around the entire image and all steps for proper set up of a print & cut file has been reviewed, then you may proceed with the process of calibrating the Silhouette.' If you've calibrated and it didn't really help, I wonder if there is some other issue with registration marks that's causing misalignment? Here's a post which may help: www.silhouetteamerica.com/printer-friendly/faq/registration-mark-reading-or-print-cut-misalignment-issueHere's another post with some additional tips - like problems with light levels so the sensor doesn't work properly or the printer settings interfering with things (like 'optimise' layout or borderless printing). www.wendaful.com/2015/02/silhouette-print-cut-tutorial-series_26/Hope you can figure it out!

I recently had a problem with my Silouette where it was not cutting all the way to the bottom of my paper...like the last 3/8 of an inch all cutting would stop. I googled it, read all sorts of threads, re-calibrated and tried all sorts of fixes that didn't work. Finally found something about mats, went into the settings and found that for the mat settings, mine was not on Silhouette branded mat. I changed it to that and it immediately fixed my problem. Not sure if that is your problem, but worth checking.

Have you downloaded the latest version of the software? I always seem to forget to do that. :-)

Thanks for your input, guys! I went through the troubleshooting anniefb posted that's all alright so far. The only thing I can think of still is that it's a lighting issue? My room is kind of dark and it's on a black shelf so the ceiling light can't really reach it, so I have a desk lamp right by there that may be throwing it off. I'll try again without that. Worst case, I'll email Silhouette.

This is a step by step that might give you some ideas: cleversomeday.com/foolproofpnc/It could be the lighting issue as there needs to be a reasonable level of ambient lighting. However, I've seen a few warnings about having too much light reflecting off the page - particularly if it's kind of shiny material. Sooo frustrating so hope you get it resolved!

I looked closely at your image - calibration will fix this! It does take a bit to get calibration right (or maybe I am just an idiot).. But after fiddling with it for a while, I was able to get mine to cut perfectly on the line. I had to move the calibration adjustment a lot more than I thought I would need to - so don't give up if you think it isn't working. Also - a suggestion on calibration... If you have the Silhouette Sketch Pens - pop one of those in the blade carriage. Make sure it is not black or a dark color. It is much easier to see the ink mark, instead of the fine blade cut on the paper during the calibration process. Also - calibration written instructions are SO confusing. What you see on the screen is not what really prints.. This video is very helpful, because she actually shows the whole process. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iz6RVq4rXFMIf you need more help, post here and I will try to see if I can help you more.

iowgirl that video was helpful! I am LOLing at how silly I was! I did the calibration cut part and it was slightly off, but I didn't realize that I needed to tell the software how far off my cut was! My goodness... I guess I thought it was just a genius and it would self-correct? I will try to redo it this afternoon. It's probably not a light issue after all, seeing as I'm cutting on white cardstock. Thanks again for your help, everyone!

LOL - The whole calibration thing is VERY confusing. The first couple times I tried it - it made no sense at all (just going off the old instructions from Silhouette).
It finally clicked for me and now my cuts are nearly perfect. I still can get a little white edge sometimes - but it is acceptable. If I absolutely do not want any white edge - I will extend my color out past the cut lines (offset - fill offset with matching color - turn off cut line of offset).

I'm not sure how to fix this, but you have me wanting to dust off my cameo that I haven't used in FOREVER.

Makes me want to take on the challenge! I haven't tried the print and cut feature yet. It's awesome chrispeas - you should definitely give it a go. Here's my latest effort using some free watercolour images I downloaded. One of the best features of the Cameo IMO!

Print & Cut is my favorite thing to do with my Silhouette. I even use just the software to do some fun things with pictures and just print - no cut. LOL The software can do some pretty awesome stuff, like fill text with images, etc.
I know you can do that in Photoshop, etc - but this is a free program and it does it SO simply!
I use digital paper and fill shapes with that for print & cut designs too.

ellewood Just coming back to this to see if you were able to get it fixed? Thanks for checking back in! Between wedding planning and moving, my silhouette hasn't been plugged in for a long time! Once I start setting up my craft room, I'll try to re calibrate and report back
