I asked this in another thread and someone even quoted me and said they wanted to know too but no one has answered. Does anyone know what it's for? You have to hover over it for it to show up, but I see no explanation anywhere for what it's for.

I think you can use that "actions" button on the top right to do stuff like mark as read, bookmark.

OK, think I have this figured out. Put the check on, go to Actions at the top and mark it read. You will then get another pop up that lets you pick how long you what it to remain as read. You can then go to select, click on read and it will bring up all the posts you checked within the time period you saved them for.
Clear as mud, right?
