I have been doing a lot of research (ie pinning on Pinterest) of capsule wardrobe ideas. My "problem" is that I do not wear short shorts nor do I want to wear jeans in the summer all the time. I never see any capsule wardrobe ideas with capris, and that is typically what I wear. My guess is that it is a fashion "no" but realistically I am more comfortable in capris than I will ever be in shorts.
Have you seen any cute outfits or capsule wardrobe ideas that use capris at all?

I recently searched mint pants on pinterest and found lots of ideas. You can search white pant outfit ideas and wear those with capris. I think it's really more about matching color than pant length.

I agree with Annabella. I search on Pinterest by pant color for inspiration and then adjust according to what I have in my wardrobe. I do think it is important to wear the right shoes and be aware of silhouette when substituting different lengths.

I haven't seen it because I think Capri are out and ankle length or crop length is in. But you can wear any length that feels comfortable to you.

I have a pair of boyfriend style, cuffed to be just above ankle length NYMJs that I wear all the time. I can dress them up or down. I don't do the capsule wardrobe thing, but I find that when I go places, I ALWAYS pack these because they are so versatile.
I don't wear shorts very often because while it is hot outside, Florida business tend to make up for it by making it almost cold enough to snow inside so shorts just aren't a good idea unless you are going to be outside the whole time. These jeans are perfect for me.

These jeans are perfect for me. I have some ankle length jeans that I cuff as well-live them! They are in my regular rotation! I am interested in the capsule wardrobe because my closet is really small and I want to maximize my money. Looking over my stuff I realized I have mostly black and gray with teal/turquoise/aqua. I think I need to find a pair of straighter leg capris -most of the ones I have seem to be baggies with pockets. Also some Bermuda shorts. I am okay with longer shorts but don't want pleated baggy ones that I might see on a "mom" SNL skit!

I used to look at outfits/ capsule wardrobe inspiration when I first started doing Project 333, but I realized that I don't dress like imaginary wardrobe builders. I don't own anything white or any collared blouses. I like to wear dresses. I hate accessories. I love wearing aqua and hot pink, sometimes together. I don't work in an air conditioned office, so I can't wear an extra layer in summer, and I walk/bus a lot so I need real outdoor weather winter clothes, not cute "looks." I swear that everyone who posts packing lists/wardrobes online lives in fantasy land where you can wear a tank top one day and a scarf and long sleeved shirt the next, like the weather is irrelevant. Also, I'm trying to reduce my wardrobe, not buy new things, so all this inspiration took me in the wrong direction, mentally. Which is to say, I now focus on what I have and what I like to wear, fashion be damned, and then I figure out my 33-ish items from there. There are some good blogs though - www.puttingmetogether.com/ into-mind.com/ www.wardrobeoxygen.com/ come to mind, and others I found through Project 333, that focus on wardrobes that are a little closer to what real people wear day to day. Wardrobe Oxygen has a great post about how anyone who wants to wear shorts can find a pair that fits and flatters - she has specific advice for people who can't or don't want to wear short-shorts but who get hot in the summer. I finally found some cute shorts based on her advice. I'm not sure if any of those blogs have capri specific advice, but hopefully they'll help in some way.

Don't limit yourself just because others don't wear capris. Build your capsule around what you wear. The idea is that you have a few key, neutral pieces that wear for multiple situations. If that's capris for you, then use it.

What is a capsule wardrobe? A capsule wardrobe takes the idea of cleaning out your closet of the 90% of the clothes you don't wear and concentrate on the 10% you do wear. You build a basic wardrobe of flexible pieces (black pants, white shirt, etc.) with a few seasonal pieces & colors for variety. It is a minimalist approach to your closet. shescrafty I live in capris year round and look for ideas for tops and accessories. This is one for a summer trip - I like the tops (except the long sleeved denim) and would wear them with the capris.

I went to a capsule wardrobe almost a year ago, and I love it. Easy to manage and maintain, less expensive overall, clothes that fit and are comfortable, everything coordinates, and I truly have never gotten more compliments on how I dress. Wear what you like. Nothing is ever "out" if you like it and it makes you happy.

Can you clarify capris for me? Please? I'm not sure if I'm picturing the same thing as you, being across the pond sometimes these terms are interpreted differently. Thanks

These are capri pants. I think someone in this thread was right when they said it's out of style. This style is my favorite to wear to work in the summer, it's a nice business material but gives my legs a breeze. Now I only see ankle pants which I hate. As a tall gal, it's like wearing pants that are slightly too short for me.

i live in chino ankle length pants in the summer
but those depend on your height sometimes
i have them in dark navy - kelly green - black, red, white and khaki
they fit my body well - so i stick with them
i'm not a fan of wide legged capri length pants - i prefer my pants/capris/jeans to be a bit slimmer thru the leg
i also love the 6 inch inseam shorts annabella linked

Hmmm, this capsule warsrobe sounds intriguing. I would love to get rid of most of what is in my closet save for a few of my favorites. Off to do some research.

If you looked in my closet, you'd see 800 pairs of leggings and 563 cat t-shirts

Thank you all for responding. I would love to,wear shorts. It my legs are the body part I hate the most on me and I would be self conscious all the time, which is why I need to either look for Bermudas or capris. I can't do jeans when I am outside and it is 90 degrees and sometimes a skirt is impractical. Thank you all for your ideas-I will check out some of the blogs listed and go from there

joblackford thanks, I'm going to look into those. I'm not familiar with project 333. P333 sounds pretty crazy at first but it's totally doable and really quite wonderful. bemorewithless.com/project-333/I have been doing it for the last few years. Before that I was fascinated but I had lots of reasons why it couldn't work for me. When I finally did it I discovered that it was surprisingly difficult and emotional, but I gave it a try and bent the rules and made it work. I don't count shoes or accessories, some years I haven't counted outerwear. I end up with about 33 items of clothing for about 3 months at a time. I put away the things I am not wearing, and each season change I get to be reunited with things - some of them I'm thrilled to see, with others my first reaction is "ugh, I thought I donated you ages ago!" It's made packing for trips very easy and my small 1920s closet feels spacious now, even though I still have plenty of things I don't wear very often in there. Yup, even with only 33 things there are things you find you never wear!
