I just got to thinking about paper for someone who gets a GED - like where is that paper? Bring back Karen Foster and Creative Imaginations. I love their everyday themes.
I just got some paper from Scrap your trip with a sofa and chair on it. How perfect is that for just those layouts where you are sitting around?

I am so sick and tired of holding onto every card, sticker, etc. that says "best day ever"... I am just not ready to commit! I keep thinking it has to get better than this, so I had better save it just to be sure! I also cringe at things that say you are my favorite, the best, etc. As a mom to many, I really struggle to find a way to use things like that worrying my kids will take it personally now or possibly later.

I totally agree!! I'd want some to say: What the F*uck? Today sucked It's like ground hog day, over and over again! Same shit, different day! Why couldn't I have been born rich instead of beautiful?! Are you kidding me? Teenagers are horrible Why me? Our not so fabulous life! Now I wouldnt wannna use these all the time, just thrown in occasionally to show our life isn't always awesome!! Wonderful! Beautiful!

Also, some sayings people actually use! And that brings us to: What are they? What do we want the manufacturers to make? What do we say? I wonder if they could ever get the rights to use popular movie and television quotes. Maybe they could have a line: "It's a meme world out there!" There could be frames and overlays for 4x6" pics that would have a journalling space above and below the photo (on the frame), and coordinating small stickers to write what you want the meme to say. Several of my friends could seriously use a line that features #FML. |

Also, could we cut back on color? None of the colors used in kits fit my style. I like brown, olive green, cream, etc. Not primary colors, jewel tones or pastels. (Maybe my life is boring).

These are all great suggestions. I've been saying for years the scrapbook market is missing out on half the world, the not so happy, happy, joy, joy side. It's like Stepford wives sometimes, everything has to be perfect. How about:

My mind immediately went to Stay-cation layouts, movie night, having people over, family visits. I also cringe at things that say you are my favorite, the best, etc. As a mom to many, I really struggle to find a way to use things like that worrying my kids will take it personally now or possibly later. Ooh, I forgot about this one! I have four kids. I can't write "favorite one" or "best" about any of them. They'd never forgive me! |

rotflmao! Keep em coming folks this is the most inspirational thread yet.
I have to write all these down, my life is so ordinary and we like it that way. I don't buy many lines because of all the peppy sentiments and bright colors. Our family uses sarcasm, we are understated if I used "best day ever" they would roll their eyes at me and think I took a happy pill. My best day ever was the day the girls were finally finished with bottles, teething and diapers!!!!!

I remember a really tiny sticker by possibly o'Scrap - it was about going to work. While it had the typical shirt and tie on it, it also had an alarm clock and some other little sayings related to work. Then there was a First Job sticker years ago and it had 'Working for the Weekend" "Rise and Shine" stuff like that. I had a cool piece of paper that said 'The Daily Grind.' These would all make great PL type cards, wouldn't they?
I also like 'Just sitting around' 'Another Boring Event' 'Nothing to do' What a Mess
I agree these have to go with just the right photos because they have to be funny or real but not insulting if possible. I have so many selfies my son has taken of himself and everyday selfie captions would be great!

Years ago I did a bunch of titles which I cut on my CraftRobo and sold them at my LSS. I did a bunch of 'cherish' and stuff like that and they didn't really sell. But the ones I did like 'oh bugger' or 'drunk again', sold like hotcakes!

Of course I've only used them on one layout so far. I could use one that says "Damn grass won't stop growing." I do like that there are some food/cooking lines out there; although, a lot of them have sayings like family favourite or best meal ever. Sometimes stuff burns. |

And about travel lines... not everyone goes to NY or Paris And even if you do, do you really need to have the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower on every paper and sticker? If I have photos of the Eiffel Tower, I don't need it on the paper too, and if I am somewhere else in Paris (yes, there ARE other things to do/see there!!LOL), then the tower paper/sticker is out of place. |
