I'm driving my daughter to Atlanta tomorrow to catch an early AM flight on Saturday.
We plan on going to the MLK Historical site. We are staying in College Park, and I would love to go somewhere "fun" for dinner?
We go to Atlanta usually a couple times a year but usually for a theatre festival or some event, we never have much free time.
So Atlanta Pea's any suggestions?

I have never been but have heard good things and it looks like fun on the website. The Vortex. You have to be 21 or over though. Is your daughter over 21? thevortexatl.com/

Right there in College Park you'll find The Manchester Arms which is a British pub with indoor and outdoor seating. It's a nice hang out place. While you are at the MLK historic site, you are close to the Sweet Auburn Market which has lots of food vendors.

Brake Pad in College Park is kind of cool - is in an old converted gas station - food is good but typical (burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, tacos) I've never been there but I've heard others rave about The Corner GrilleSomeone mentioned it already but I agree that Manchester Arms is a good place in College Park. I see someone mentioned The Vortex - there are 2 locations in Atlanta - their food is good (burgers, tater tots, fried pickles, sandwiches) but if you have anyone under 18 in your group, you can't go there. They do allow smoking in some areas and some of the artwork is adult themed so you have to be 18 to get. My very favorite restaurant isn't necessarily what you would call "fun" exactly but I love it. It is Agave. So delicious, everything is good - I have spotted celebrities in there on several occasions (Georgia has become the Hollywood of the South - so many things are filmed here now). Agave is in Atlanta - in an area they call Cabbagetown near Historic Oakland Cemetery. Enjoy your visit !!

I only know this because it's my DD's favorite place. When she got to college, she couldn't get in with her friends until she turned 18. Then she was 20 and they changed it to 21, so she couldn't go anymore. She was very upset. I don't know where College Park is, but I really loved Mary Mac's tea house. It's not far from DD's apartment, and the fried chicken was so super good.

I agree about Mary Mac's - if you are looking for traditional southern food - that's a great place!

I have read about Mary Mac's good to know its not too touristy. We get good traditional southern cooking here in North Carolina...
I'll keep The Vortex in mind when I am without the kiddo.
College Park is near the airport.... we might try one of the restaurants there.
I would love to go to Ponce City Market.. but I think it is not close to where we will be.
I appreciate all the suggestions... keep em coming!

It did look neat on Man vs. Food.
