I think they are cute, but not sure what the point is of wearing them. I guess they are not much different than wearing toe rings, and anklets, which I do. Are they comfortable? I will be heading to HI in the fall, and can't decide if I should get some. For those who don't know what they are... Barefoot sandals
I really only like the simple ones, not the more embellished ones.

I've never seen them before, and I'm not a fan of the toe-thong for comfort for myself, even with flip-flops. But I have to admit they're pretty if you have nice feet. The point? Just looks, I guess, like jewellery.

hmmmm.....I think they'd be cute for about 5 seconds, for a bride, getting married, on a beach. Not really something that looks practical. But for a vacation, maybe. Have fun in HI!

I wouldn't call that a sandal, I'd call it 'foot jewelry' lol!!
some of them are pretty, but I wouldn't ever wear them... even when we were on the beach in Hawaii, it was to swim and mess around collecting shells, etc.; those barefoot sandals look more like for a 'dressed up' outfit than swimming-beach-wear to me.
eta: and yeah-- me personally, having that ring around my toe and the chains / bling rubbing on my foot would be super-annoying.

I wore a blingy pair to a beach party once. I wore them with a little sundress. It was really cute, I got a lot of compliments.
Comfortwise? They felt a bit "different"at first...not used to having the thong part between my toes...but within moments I didn't even notice/feel them.
If the party wasn't literally on the beach I'd probably not wear them again...just because I'd rather wear a pair of nice shoes.lol
I think I paid about $15. They looked similar to a few in the pic with "pearls"and bling. I wouldn't pay much more than the $15. I wore mine once and could maybe get another couple wearings (is that a word?) out of them. I don't think they'd last long term...they're kind of like an embellished stretchy band kind of like the stretchy bracelets.

Agreed. I wouldn't call them sandals, either. I wear flip flops almost daily in the summer here, so that part wouldn't bother me. I also don't swim when at the beach, unless we are snorkeling, so that wouldn't really be too much of an issue, either.

^^^ if you're going to a luau or something right on the beach, like justkat said, or you're going to do some 'laying out' on the beach or by the pool at your hotel, then I could see wearing them as part of an outfit or just as a jewelry-type accessory. eta: which island are you going to?? what are you going to do?? We went two years ago in the summer, and are trying to figure out how to fit in another 2 week trip next summer... now we just have to decide if we want to go to the same place(s) we went before (which were beautiful), or to go somewhere else!

I'm so clumsy I would probably trip over something and cut my foot open. The more dainty, less blingy ones are cute. I could see those being popular at a beach party or on a cruise when you're not actually going in the pool.

The big island for 10 days for our 20th, along with another couple celebrating 22. SO excited! No luau. We went to one on Kauai, and DH was not a huge fan. We wanted to go whale watching, but it will be too early, I'm afraid. We're still discussing excursions, but right now, we know we want to go zipping, and to see the volcano. Not sure what else, but are throwing around snorkeling, a massage on the beach, sunset cruise...if we hadn't done the helicopter in Kauai, we'd probably do that, but with all of the different things we'd like to try, the helicopter is too expensive. It was spectacular, though! If you want to go to Kauai, and want to see pics, or want info on the tours we took, let me know.

thanks, KikiPea!! When we went, we spent a few days in Honolulu which I really liked (a bit touristy, but we had to do it-- Waikiki Beach!), then one overnight on the big island to visit Volcanoes National Park (not nearly enough time), and the rest of the time on Maui, at a B&B in the bamboo forest. (we ziplined in the forest but ziplining closer to the shore would be fun.) But-- We didn't get to the North Shore on Oahu (we didn't have a car), we didn't have time to do anything else on the big island, we didn't have time to go to the top of Haleakala on Maui to see the sun rise... I'd love to go whale watching, swim with dolphins, snorkel at Molokini, take a helicopter tour, do some bird-watching, there's a first-class restaurant on Maui we missed eating at, etc. etc. There are so many things to do in Hawaii, it's tough to pick!! (I guess that's why so many people go back over and over, lol)

I think they're pretty, but I couldn't get past the no actual shoes part enough to wear them out anywhere.
However, they'd be darling in a photo shoot!

When my sister got married on Ambergris Caye in Belize, I made barefoot sandals for my mom and I. I loved the look. Since we were on the beach, it was perfect. Mine are now hanging up in my crafty space. Not sure where my mom's are. There is definitely a time and place for them.

Some of those would leave a pretty funky tan line.
