I'm just not sure what to fix tonight. I think it's time to try some new recipes. I might do my garlic chicken and brown rice w/peas. Well, I'll decide by dinnertime. I hope. Maybe.
What's on your menu?
Have a wonderful Friday and I wish everyone a fun weekend.

I don't know, but we will find a restaurant somewhere (although DD10 will prefer pizza, especially since the French seem to expect kids to eat the same as adults (which I completely agree with) and so far we haven't found anywhere with a kids menu). I doubt I can tempt her with escargots, but it's fun teasing her every now and again

We're having the chicken and veggies I'd planned to make yesterday. Last night was rough, after days of talking we finally made the decision to say goodbye to our wonderful old dog. She's 14 and has something major going on internally. The only way to know for sure is to sedate her and do an MRI, but she's just too old and sick to go through that. It's killing us but we know we've made the right decision. Tomorrow morning we will say goodbye. Anyway, I was far from in the mood to do any cooking, so dh and the boys had ice-cream for dinner and I had a bowl of cereal.
I'm sad.

calgal08, sorry to hear your sad news. Thinking of your family. I'm making calzones this evening. Well, I guess it's semi-homemade. I bought Publix pizza dough and I'll make the fillings. Veggie filling for me and meat filling for DH. My poor husband has worked many long hours this week and I'm home being fairly lazy. I sure feel bad having him sit down to left overs this week.

It's pizza night. Last week I made some with Publix dough instead of ordering from the new place down the road.
Tonight, it's the new place! It's called Wiseguys and their slogan is "Get your own piece.....of pizza, that is." I've heard great things about their pizza, so now just to decide if we want the Al Pacheezie, the Gambino or the Yo Adrian. Maybe the Meathead.

DS grad party is this evening, so we will be enjoying breaded chicken with Amoggio sauce, Italian sausage with peppers and onions (minimal green, mostly red), penne with marinara for our non meat eaters, buttery pearl potatoes, seasonal veg (broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots), salad with ranch or Italian, rolls and butter, and cake-either yellow with white frosting or banana with choc frosting. My table decorations include red, white and blue potato chips, red, white and blue m&m's, and Hershey kisses and kit Kats in red, white and blue wrappers.

Sounds like a backwards kind of day where any meal is fine.

I have absolutely no idea. I'm waiting for a repair person to show up and they are running late. I had planned a few different things, depending on what time they were here, but none of those plans will work now. Poor dh may have to have his take-out tonight instead of tomorrow. Oh noes!

We had teriyaki salmon last night, and I'm making meatballs later to bring to a July 4th BBQ. I think we'll be having a few of those meatballs tonight...

Today is dh's birthday and we spent a couple of hours at the beach this morning. We went out to breakfast first...well, I had breakfast food and he had a lobster roll!! I'm heading to the store in a bit and plan to get him a filet to grill. I'll have a rib eye since I like food with more flavor . There will be baked potatoes and a veggie as well. I may pick up a small ice cream cake too...it's my favorite, lol!!

calgal08 Hugs to you and your family. I am so excited for dinner tonight because I don't have to make it. It's a holiday here and the family all have their own dinner plans. So I'm thinking crackers and cheese and a trashy novel after the blue jay game.

You deserve something nicer than cereal for dinner. (Although -- really, I love cereal for practically any meal or snack. The right kind can be very comforting.)

I cooked last night, so tonight is DH's turn to cook. On the way to work -- we commute together -- he said he had forgotten to set out any meat to thaw for dinner. "Oh, no," I said, "Guess we'll just have to go to ... NEWK'S?!?!" I love Newk's... And then he said, "Pizza Hut has $6.99 medium any toppings, though." And then my 28-year-old daughter texted me that she's in the hospital right next to Newk's, and we'll go see her after work, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a ham sandwich from Newk's ends up being easier than a pizza!!! Hope springs eternal!

Is there such a thing as a dinner fairy. You know some invisible little character that drops dinner off in your kitchen when you are not looking.
No?
Well, I guess maybe I'll make hot dogs and something. I'll figure out the something later I still have a few hours.

I got up early and went to the supermarket and Costco already this morning. I didn't want to have to fool around with shopping during the holiday weekend. So in addition to lots of leftover chicken fried rice from last night, I have a chunk of ham my brother gave me (but I'm saving that for split pea soup ... I found a tub of ham broth in the freezer), a $20 package of baby back ribs I got on sale for $8 (LOL cadoodlebug), four lbs of organic ground beef (plus good hamburger buns in the freezer), a chuck roast I just went ahead and stuck in the freezer, where most of the ground beef is headed, too ... and the inevitable Costco chicken. Oh, and three dozen eggs and a possible craving for quiche. Plus lots of fresh veggies, a bag of taters, and a big watermelon. So I will manage something tonight. littlemama, have a wonderful time at your grad party tonight. calgal08 and @nicksmom, I'm so sorry you're both losing beloved companions this week.

Actually there are several companies who will do just that ~ we keep getting flyers for them. It will be great for DH when he moves into his townhouse later this year. We're having either ham or teriyaki chicken. Whichever appeals to me at 5 PM. ETA: Y'all must wonder ~ I MEANT to say when DS not DH moves into his townhouse this year.

Besides those type of businesses want to get paid, fairies work for free.

Today was the last day of VBS! It was so much fun and such a blessing, but I am beat haha.
G&G asked us yesterday if they could take the boys out to dinner tonight. We said, of course! Dh works and I will veg out this evening while making our monthly Costco list. Man, it's a bummer that it s 1.5 hours away.
So dinner.. I'm going to make ground beef nachos for myself!
