If you have one, how painful was it? I'm getting one of my LH's tattoos only smaller and more feminine. I want it on the inside of my heel. No larger than half dollar size. Obviously it's going to be painful, but I'm hoping since it's small it won't take as long. I just hope I can sit through it. It's not my first tattoo, but I'm really nervous. My daughters and I have been talking about matching foot tattoos. His tattoo is perfect! It's a fleur-de-lis with our birthstones in it. My oldest daughter is considering getting hers done with me. She's 17.

Mine is on the outside of the ankle. I remember it being somewhat painful, but it wasn't horrible. I didn't flinch or anything, but it was irritating.

I have one on my ankle that goes all the way around about an inch above the knobby spot. The part that hurt the most was on the outside. The rest was just annoying.

I have one across the top of my foot and it didn't hurt much...just a little bit when they were really close to my toes.

I have a 1 inch band that goes completely around my ankle. It's a claddagh with my family's Celtic knot. It was done in one sitting, about 6 hours. The only part that made me wince a bit was on the outter ankle bone. I will say the next night once it scabbed up it actually made my ankle swell a bit and was pretty tender. Ibuprofen worked just fine though. I've had it about 15 years now.

I have one on the outside of my ankle. It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Mostly painful when they were right on the bone.
I have a tattoo on top of my left foot. That one was fairly painful but not unbearable.

What about tattoos on the outside edge of you foot? I am thinking about getting one on the top edge of my foot on the pinky side. It will be a phrase that says "Walk by faith, not by sight" in my own handwriting.

My first two tats were on my ankle and didn't hurt at all. The only think I disliked was being in a weird position with my legged turned so he could ink me.

Good timing on this thread! My sister and I were just talking about getting tattooed together and the outer part of my ankle is where I would want it. I'm thinking about 3 watercolor birds for my 3 kids

I have one right above the inside of my ankle. I thought it hurt pretty bad, but I'm wimpy like that.

I have the shape of New Hampshire with the Red Sox logo in it on the inside of my right calf, starting right above the ankle. I went with my nephew last October when I was home visiting and got it done. The worst part was when the artist hit the tendon or was right over the bone. Otherwise it's more of a stinging nuisance than pain.

I have one on my left outer ankle, and it hurt a lot. I think because it was so bony. I also have one on the top of my right foot. That one didn't hurt at all.

I have one there that says "live fiercely" Make sure you don't wear any shoes that rub, I lost a part of my lettering to flip flops while it was healing.

Does it hurt? Like a sonofabitch. Still don't regret it though.

I had mine done 23 years ago on the inside of my left ankle above the ankle bone. There was a marine (about 280lb and BIG) who came in at the same time I did. He was getting a yin-yang symbol on the outside of his left ankle above the ankle bone. He passed out about eight minutes into the session. My artist stopped after the black outlining, gave me a Dr. Pepper and made me sit down and put my head between my knees. We started back 10 minutes later and finished the color without a problem. The marine had to leave and come back another day.
