What is everybody working on this weekend? I'm working on a new design using Red Heart Swanky. It will end up taking 1 or 2 skeins, not quite sure yet how much. Here's a sneak peek:

I finished up the little cupcake purse and starfish dishcloths-both Christmas gifts. Started an alpaca hat for a camping trip that I am going on in September.

Working on my 2nd project ever, a hat.
Was having issues with it early on. Like trying to start knitting the second row, early. The cast on stitches ended up twisting. Lesson [HASH]1 learned very well.
Next up, the hat is wonky and I can't quite figure out what's wrong. About 6 rows in, I figure it out. One side is longer than the other. One side has the P2K2 stitches visible. The other had no pattern at all. I had been picking it up and knitting without considering that I was knitting the proper direction. Lesson [HASH]2--check.
So, I pulled it all out and started over. I used 1 large yellow place maker for the beginning of the row. To the right, are 2 smaller pink place markers leading up to the yellow one. So, now I can be sure to knit the proper direction. Secondly, I put some place markers, I don't care for using while knitting, on the original stitches. Makes it much easier to see that the work hasn't twisted.
Also, I was able to visit a fabulous yarn store. It's an hour and a half away. They have completely different lines than the local store. I purchased some Malabagrio (sp?) for an infinity scarf. Some yummy charcoal grey alpaca for another hat for dh. And, a couple skeins that are outrageously colored--neon blue, green & yellow. I have no clue what I'm going to do with it, but had to have it.
They also had a new line. Can't remember what it's called at present. But, the projects they had was using 3 strands to chunk up the projects. Gorgeous! But, I am so not ready to try 3 threads.

I finished the body of my baby blanket. It's crib sized. I'm halfway through the first round of edging.
I have to admit that I'm a bit excited to find something new to do. I kind of want to find another bag, messenger style, where the strap won't stretch out a lot if I have something in it. I also keep seeking the Nordic shall and want to try one of those.

Here's a sneak peek: That looks lovely! Nice to see this yarn in use, I was looking at it the other day and couldn't quite picture what it would look like done up in a project.

I got an email from Red Heart showing off this yarn. I loved the free pattern and printed it. How easy/difficult is this yarn to work with for an intermediate crocheter. I'd love to try it.

My 6 yo would love that cupcake purse! Very cute. Working on a Winter hat for same 6 year old. It's a dark purple color and she wants me to add a big pompom on top. Hope to finish it in the next couple days.
