A couple girlfriends will be flying in next month for our semi-annual girls weekend. We always do a lot of cooking, cocktail sampling and picture taking. We used to scrapbook, but I'm the holdout on that now. Still like to do something fun that they can easily take back with them.
We've made beaded serving spoons/forks, painted/alcohol inked clear Christmas ornaments and painted ceramic pottery in past visits. Trying to find something easy for them to take back on a plane in their suitcase. Neither of them like to take anything carry-on. Any fun projects to suggest would be easy for them to tote back.

Covering clothes pins with Washi tape (although I find it's better to add some adhesive) and then a small magnet on the back would be easy to make and easy to transport home. You can add small jewels or other embellishments, also. Covering small cans with scrap paper and embellishing with any number of things to use for pens, markers, etc. If you have access to a computer to print calendars you can insert them in CD cases for cute desktop calendars (google or pinterest to see instructions). Also search for jingle bell frames. Those might work for your group.

Here is what I am planning for a crafty weekend that some of my sisters and Mom will be visiting. Pinterest Board I think it will be fun and everyone can choose their own themes. We will make a trip to pick up the trays and any extra pieces anyone wants to add. I have plenty of craft stuff, so no one will have to buy much.

These would be quick and easy and light to pack in a suitcase.

Shrink plastic charms for earrings or charm bracelet. Just made a pair of dragonfly ones for a friend. Coloured with Promarkers and Stickles, pretty and very lightweight.

The last time I had kids here I got the thin artists boards for painting. I taped them together in 4s so it was a big square. Then each kid took turns adding something to each set of boards. They were abstract with the girls painting some flowers, but the boys painting stripes over at various times. Then I sent them home with 4 coordinating 5x7 paintings that I put in cheap frames. You could have each person paint a different image for fall: pumpkin, corn, cornucopia, leaves, wheat, apples, pies, acorns. Or paint canvases and use scissors or did cuts of fall themed paper to create a sign/art: Art

I really appreciate the great suggestions. One of my friends and I have already made memory trays, otherwise that would be a great idea. I'm so darn indecisive and don't feel very creative at the moment. Good thing I have a month to figure it out. I look forward to more ideas.

I have really gotten into making my own bath salts and sugar scrubs! They are quick, easy, inexpensive, and SO MUCH FUN! And the best part is actually using them.
Bath Salts 1c epsom salts 1T baking soda 10-15 drops of essential oil (I LOVE lavender; also love lemon)
Mix well, and store in a glass jar
Sugar Scrub 2.5c sugar (you can use any kind - larger grains or smaller) 8oz. oil (olive, grapeseed, or almond oil) 30 drops of essential oil
This recipe will fill 4 8oz jars.

Ohh, I love the clothespins covered with washi tape! I made them for our chip/pretzel bag clips and they are so cute. All you need is several rolls of inexpensive, pretty washi tape and scissors. Won't take much room in luggage either. Sounds like a fun get-together!
