I've always been an Epson girl, but I haven't bought a printer in years. I'm looking for a good color printer for all my design work (not a photo printer or an oversized printer, and not an all-in-one). I'm sure most newer printers are wireless, now, right? Suggestions? If you have a favorite, tell me some of the things you like about it. Thanks!!!

Mine is an all in one, a Canon MG 7520. I'm really happy with it. Since that's not what you're looking for, I don't know what else to suggest. Good luck finding one that works for you, though.

My printers have all been HP inkjet over the years. Have nice crisp print. Easy to use. Fairly fast, as home printers go, when printing batches of pamphlets or other projects.

I prefer a dedicated printer, but I'm open to other ideas. We had an all-in-one recently that someone gave us... it was an HP and was quite good. But we left it behind when we moved recently, and now I think I'd like to go back to just a printer. We have a great scanner that does slides and negatives, so don't really need to have that feature. Years ago, when all-in-ones first came out, "experts" said that the problem with them was that if one feature broke down (like the scanner), you had to replace the whole thing. Don't know if that's really an issue now. Printers are pretty cheap.

What did he do with all of those used printers? We always used recycled inks and off-brand ink to save money. Ink really is expensive!

I am fighting with my Epson right now and have wanted to throw it out the window. Even online tech help hasn't helped. DH insists that printers are disposable and I need to go get another one. I think he has just about convinced me. I just bought $60 of ink for the stupid thing. Aargh. I didn't have much trouble with the HPs I have used. I think that's the way I will go again. No more Epsons for me.

I've had a Canon all in one for about 7 years and have always been very happy with the results. I'm reluctant to replace it as Canon have now got rid of the rear loading tray.

I have a Canon and DH has an HP. both are lasers and are work horses. I just got rid of my last ink cartridge machine--an Epson. no more cartridges for me. they are expensive, messy, not worth the hassle.

The best general use printer I ever had was an HP, and I had an HP inkjet color copier that was awesome too until it flat out died from years and years of use. The only reason I switched to Epson was because of the Durabrite ink that is supposedly lightfast, waterproof, fade resistant, etc., but the printers themselves SUCK. I think when this current one dies, I'll either go back to HP or will give the Canon Pixma a try. Lord knows it can't be worse than what I've been using.

I recently bought my first real photo printer about 1.5 years ago: an Epson R3000. I think it's currently discontinued (replaced by the P600)\. The thing is a beast but I've been thrilled with the prints so far. Ink is incredibly expensive so I've recently begun to switch to refillable cartridges using third party inks and am having good success so far.
Previously I had an AIO HP printer which was just kind of OK for photos (I always ended up ordering prints online).

Have you considered a laser printer? The printer itself is slightly more money upfront, but you save on ink (or, laser cartridges) in the long haul! It also never dries out since it's powder. I currently have a black and white laser printer that we spend $20 refilling about once a year, probably even less than that to be honest. Next time around I'm going to get a laser color printer. It will require a cartridge for each color, but I'm ok with that given how long they last.
It's a brother printer, and it's a tank. It has been moved 4 times and still works like a dream, never had any issues with it!
ETA: I also like the look of laser printed pages better, the shine looks real professional to me.
