Assuming all three are clean, I will go to the one furthest from the door. There's always some sort of gap in the door edge and if I don't take the furthest, then someone will have to walk past my stall to get to the other one and the fewer people who see my fat butt, the better off the world will be.

I always use the stall closest to the door if its available as I had previously read that it's usually the cleanest as well. Ha! If we're all doing that for the same reason, then I guess we're defeating the purpose, right? That's what I was thinking too, we all read the same study

I always go to the first stall because I read somewhere it's always cleanest because not very many people use it. I generally find that to be true. My answer, exactly. I heard this too!

I usually pick the first one. I would never pick the middle.
I was just lamenting to a coworker about someone coming in the bathroom after me and choosing the stall next to me. Hey there are 4 others why do you have to crowd me LOL. If I walked into a bathroom with 5 stalls with only one being used I would never go to one on either side. I like a buffer.

Any one that is clean. And I sit. Without putting paper down. And I flush with my hand. I have never caught a horrible thigh disease from a toilet seat. This would be me too.

The closest one. Because I don't really care.

If they were all equally clean, the middle one. I like a space bubble, even if it only lasts until the next person walks in. Hmm, I seem to have read this differently than some other Peas. I took it to mean that there were 3 empty stalls in a row, which is why i chose the middle. If the middle actually had people on either side of it, then that would negate my reasoning for choosing it. Save

I usually go to the one closest to the door because I'm too lazy to walk all the way to the other end!

Either the first or last so that the next person has the option of going into a stall that's not directly next to me. Ditto. And only if they're clean. Otherwise it's whichever one is not crapped up.

I said furthest one away but that's not always the case. I wasn't aware of the difference if any in cleanliness. I usually try and go for the largest one. If I have a suitcase etc that has to stand on the ground then I prefer one that's next to a solid wall.

There's too Many variables for me to choose! I've heard the closest one was cleanest but generally avoid it anyway. Also, at my work, the closest one is the handicap stall and it has an extra large gap in the door AND the toilet squirts you when it flushes!
It depends on the number of stalls and the way the sinks are arranged. At my previous work I did use the first stall because it was a farthest away from the sinks. In general I will Use the stall furthest away from door unless it's the hanicap stall - which I will Use but prefer not to.

Didn't vote cause I'd use the one that's cleanest. I usually look at the ones whose door is already open. This is me too, I'll check each open stall and choose the cleanest. There's always in that's cleaner.

The first one because if I am willing to use a public restroom it is probably an emergency and I don't have time to walk to the one furthest away.

The accessible one is usually farthest from the door, so it is usually that location I use. I wear a TENS device and have some physical limitations, so the extra room helps with the wires and maneuvering. I can pee in record time in that stall, but it takes me longer in others because it's harder to manage a skirt, wires, patches, etc in a small stall.

I usually have my DD with me (and she's usually the reason why we're in there in the first place) so I make a beeline for the handicap stall, assuming that there isn't anyone needing it more than we do. It's just easier to help a kid get in and out of there quickly when you have a little more space to move around. If I'm by myself and there's no line and multiple stalls, I'll pick the one that looks cleanest, has no floaters in the bowl AND has TP on the roll. There is almost nothing worse than finding out too late that there's no paper in the stall, no one to hand you some and you don't even have a wadded up half-used Kleenex in your purse to wipe with!

As long as they are all the same level of cleanliness, I would usually choose the one furthest from the door. I think it's because I assumed less people would use that one and it would be the cleanest.
However at work I choose the first stall. That's because it is the smallest cubicle and it is behind the main bathroom door when you open it, which means it's not as easy to get into. Therefore I assume that not as many people use it and should be cleaner.

In my college dorm, I established a theory that:
1) people who use the first stalk are busy. They don't have time to mess around - get in and get out.
2) people who use the middle stall like to socialize.
3) people who use the far stall are introverts staying out of the way.
I usually use the far end with the other fund being my 2nd choice. I only go to the middle if the others are taken or messy.

I voted for stall 1, however the largest clean stall is my choice.
I am convinced that men design women's restrooms. They do not understand the width needed to sit, how far away or close the toilet paper dispenser needs to be and the importance of a hook on the door.

I always pick the second one from the entrance if it's available. I tend to leave the ones closer to the entrance open for those with a true emergency (less distance).
Unless I'm in a situation where I have to take the first available or a sporting event where there's a lot of stalls and people.
Or I just take whichever one is clean.

I'm a middle stall goer. No rhyme or reason to it, no thought given until I check it. If it's clean, that's just the one I use.

Not only do they not understand those things, they also don't get it that many women are in there with young children or babies, which means we need even MORE space, need that hook to hold not only a purse but sometimes also a diaper bag within reach, and how about some sort of step stool under the sink so my kid can reach at least the water at the sink without getting their entire sleeves, shirt and front of their coat wet from the icky water that is seemingly always slopped around the sink? Public restrooms are so NOT kid-friendly it's insane.

The first stall used to be the least used until Oprah told everyone about 20 years ago. She let the cat out of the bag and now it's the one everyone wants.
