It's been another horrible news week so I am drawn to more humane stories. Loved this one from Uganda, featuring a six year boy who was born with cataracts. He's had an operation to remove them and given glasses. I love the photo of him striding out ahead of his grandmother looking so happy www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-36665483

Thank you for posting this, wellway. I wasn't born blind, but have very limited vision without my glasses. I was six before they found out, and remember being able to see objects on the other side of the road for the first time. What had previously just been thick fog, was now trees. (My poor mom still feels terribly guilty for not understanding this earlier). Seeing the world around you for the first time is an amazing experience, and I'm so happy for that little boy.

I have needed glasses for most of my life and my Mum felt bad too when I walked out of the opticians with glasses for the first time and exclaimed "Oh, I see leaves"

I have warn glasses/contacts since childhood too. My mum first realised when she was walking me to school and I said I could see my friend up ahead waiting for me - it was the postman's bike leaning against a wall That's a lovely uplifting story wellway

After a few days of such sadness in the news, I really appreciate this story. It reminds me that there is still a lot of good in this world. I especially loved the photos. TFS!
