After a rotten ending to my day yesterday I woke up in the middle of the night achey and chilled. Lysol your screens after reading this post. Needless to say dinner will once again be a fend night. We have tons of food leftover from our Chinese takeout. What's on your menu? Have a great Friday and I hope you have a lovely weekend.

We are planning to have a fun family day today. My DH is finally out for summer vacation after finishing up summer school. We will eat out for lunch and then take the boys bowling. It will probably be something pretty simple for dinner.

Feel better soon, scrapmaven. We just had eggs, bacon and fried potatoes for dinner. I came down with a cold a few days ago (happens every single time we're on vacation), and just didn't want to spend time in the kitchen. Eggs and bacon is one of the very few things DH can cook, so that's why that ended up on the menu.

Yesterday I ended up making PW sesame noodles + chicken + a little leftover zucchini + cilantro. So yum. I only used half the package of spaghetti for the sesame noodles but had cooked the whole thing, and there's also some leftover ground beef. So I'm thinking I'll make baked spaghetti with what's in my fridge. scrapmaven and miominmio, I hope you both feel better quickly.

Tilapia tacos with spicy slaw and beans for us.
If anyone cares, don't ever buy the frozen langustino tails from Trader Joes. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I'm not a good judge of fish, it's not my favorite food, but dh and oldest ds love it - neither of them like it. I thought they'd be a cross between shrimp and lobster. Instead it's a very fishy tasting kind of mushy grossness.

I didn't want to bump yesterday's thread by posting there, but I am so sorry for your loss, scrapmaven. I'm also sorry you woke up not feeling well. It's not fair when life kicks you when you're already down.

I thought it sounded so fancy and exotic!
I don't mean to rain on your parade but Tilapia isn't that great either!
According to our menu plan we are having pizza and salad. I was planning on making the pizza myself but I think I can get a family size pizza at Papa Murphy's for less than I can make one. I may go that route. I will make a big green salad, it sounds so good to me right now.

YOYO night. BF grilled the storied bratwurst yesterday, so I will likely have one of those. And maybe a potato "baked" in the microwave, topped with sauerkraut and mustard! Might be a tasty thing.

Tilapia is one of the few fish options I actually like. Probably because it's pretty bland. Dh does a spice rub on it so I can pretend I'm eating chicken ;-)

I hope everyone who is down and out today feels better soon. I took my niece out to lunch today and had a pretty good meal, so I'll probably just have fruit or toast tonight. I'm thinking of breakfast for dinner for DH. Maybe biscuits/gravy and some scrambled eggs. I'll see how he feels when he gets home. Since I went to the store this morning and have a full fridge, there are many possibilities for dinner.

Today is leftovers, a clean out the fridge type of thing. My fridge looks so full but it is all leftover containers with only a little of this and a little of that.
But there are enough littles to make more than enough food for a meal. So no cooking for me.

Another day of heat advisory for us so....we had baked potatoes (microwaved) and a fantastic salad (I had a veggie tray leftovers from last week and it needed to be used). We made a small grocery store run this a.m. and I picked up watermelon chunks (BOGO) - we've already eaten one - it was so sweet and delicious. My grandpa had an ole saying "Don't eat watermelon before the Fourth of July" - so I waited and it was worth it.
Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend.

So sorry, scrapmaven , for your loss. And I hope you feel better soon - terrible double whammy for you. I am just waiting for the thunderstorm to abate and then I am making guacamole tostadas. Or just chips and guac. Sad day all around for so many, many people. Have a peaceful, kindness-filled weekend everyone.

Hope you feel better quick scrapmaven! The pantry got organized today so naturally, oddball stuff was found that needs to be used or pitched. I swear, we have a kitchen fairy floating around distributing odd foodstuffs! Tonight we're using a box of beef rice-a-roni (that I haven't a clue how we got!) with beef patties and broccoli. Fresh fruit for dessert.

We had the grilled sausages that we didn't have last night-buffalo chicken for dh and the smoked sausages for ds and for me. Rice pilaf and some coleslaw leftover from last night. We did pretty well not eating dinner out this week. Only last night, and that was at dh' s request because he didn't want spicy sausages.
