If I had a complete do-over I would be a forensic scientist/detective.
I would like to do just about anything if DH and I could do it together. He travels so much of the time--weekends included, and I absolutely hate being apart. So, my dream is to spend as much time as possible with DH. That would bring me great satisfaction. Money, etc. would all be secondary.

Dh would want to be a farmer or open a garden greenhouse. I would love to flip houses or open an ice cream shop.

I would love to be able to belt out a song and awe people with my voice. Other than that I'm good where I am. I'm still pinching myself to believe that I am actually retired and I don't have to plan for a new school year.

Write young adult novels. I can't string together 3 sentences but I have plenty of creativity!

I'd like someone to pay me to read books all day. Oooh, I like that idea! Or.... pay me to read the internet all day. Starting here. Other than that, I would love to do something in the field of medical science and genetics, and help find a cure for genetic diseases. I find it so incredibly interesting.

I would love to develop a travel business taking people on small group guided tours of major European cities. I could spend half my time creating the tours and half the time leading them. Almost exactly this, except I want to cover the whole world! After years of expat life we are back in the US now and as much as I enjoyed nearly all aspects of the life, I really find that I miss the travel. I'm ready to keep traveling and DH is pretty much done with overseas. So if I were to come up with a travel business I could keep traveling! All DH wants to do is retire and spend time out West - fly fishing, hunting and hiking. I'm good with that for about 3 days then I need civilization! Save

I would love to work in a museum as a curator. I love art and history and whenever I'm in a museum I'm always fascinated by how\why they display the art or artifacts the way they do. Way back in college, I started out as an art history major but was persuaded to move over to English and education. It probably was a more practical career choice, but I never lost my love for art.

Forgot to add: My absolute dream job would be hosting a show like You Gotta Eat Here or Diners Drive Ins and Dives. Travel, eat great food, make money..what's not to love?

In my fantasy life, I'd love to work for Pixar or do voices for shows like The Simpsons, etc. In reality, though, I'm someone who enjoys puttering around. I see myself at a plant nursery or back at a book store.

I would love to work in the historical preservation field, something with archives, oral history, or helping to save/rehab historic buildings. I have a minor in historic preservation (it was my major and then I switched halfway through for silly reasons) and I still regret not sticking it out and making it my degree.

SO and I want to own a tavern, someplace small where the locals can hang out. We'd love to have a menu with no fried foods, just soup, salad and simple sandwiches.
If I were single I'd be a librarian.

Orthodontist. Or a Prothetist, someone that engineers and designs prostetic limbs. I would like to design robotic limbs and specialize in pediatrics.

Retired! I'd like to be retired, and I'm pretty sure DH would too since he says that about every other day, LOL. I'm not one of those people who would need a part time retirement job either. I'd be happy to cook or bake what I want when I want, sit and read a book or do some crafts if I want, go shopping or just sit and do NOTHING if that's what I want. Working, even working for yourself (or your spouse) is totally overrated. I kept saying that too! I was retired for 7 months and my old boss asked if I wouldn't like a little part time job. Work mostly from home and stay in my jammies until noon. I am flexible with my hours. Fridays I volunteer. It is just for a year and pays well. At first I was in shock having to work again, but it is really low key and I am used to it. What I like about it is that I see people. I missed people. Not that my husband and sons aren't people, but you know. LOL, I work by myself primarily (and have for the better part of the last 15 years), so I'm pretty used to not seeing people every day and I'm okay with it. What I would like though would be to finally have a little more time for my friends. Some of my retired friends are about 15 years or so older than me and they do things like "ladies who lunch" or they get together to craft or scrapbook every week, and I think that would be fun.

I would be a researcher for the CIA-like Robert Redford's character in Three Days of the Condor, minus the getting shot at part.

If I had a complete do over, I would go into library science. If it was to tweek the career I had and enjoyed - project manager in construction - I would liked to have studied project management in college and then focused on LEED certified building. And I would have added a hobby of building fine furniture.
Dh loves the law and being a lawyer, so I'm not certain he would want to be anything else. However, I he didn't pick insurance defense and though he has a great career and is well liked and respected in his field, it would not be what he would have chosen. His undergrad was environmental toxicology, and he hoped to go into environmental law. Bad timing when he graduated goofed that up.

I work two days a week (4 hours each day) in an office. The rest of the time is at home on my schedule. I am able to meet friends for lunch or go gamble some afternoon, so for me, it is the best of both worlds. I also like that I am learning so much at work. My last career was 28 years long, so I was really comfortable there. I am going to a four day crop next week and a two day one in August. I rarely went to crops when I worked full time.

We would like enough money put aside so that we could be full time off the grid homesteaders. We already grow a ton of fruit and vegetables and preserve it, but would love a heated greenhouse to be able to grow year round food. We have chickens and goats now, but would love a big barn and more animals. A tractor. DH would like to be able to retire and do this also, but having enough funds available to do all the projects we dream of is what he would like. ;-)

I don't love what I do but I make good money. What I want to do I don't have the talent for. I'd like to be an artist like freebird or a historical costumer like Isabel at Prior Attire. Either one of these would make me very happy. But they take talent and skill that I don't have, as well as a disposition to work with fine details. That is not me. I am not detail oriented and I cannot focus on meticulous work.
I also would maybe have liked to be a lawyer just because I think it would have come in handy pretty often in my life and maybe I could have been a judge. I think I would have been a good judge. Now I am sort of wishing time away because I want to be retired and stay home and enjoy my house and my things and enjoy life but I would want to be financially secure enough to be relatively stress free. Whatever I do or don't do I would live to live at the beach year round. I want to go to sleep listening the the waves and wake up to the sun coming up over the water. We have a lot in common, if I could do it over again I'd probably be a lawyer. About the bolded part. You can be an artist without being meticulous. In fact, a lot of painters look down at my work because I'm too meticulous. The first step to being an artist is just doing it.

What I tell people is that it takes time and practice. I'm ADD and I can do it. My first paintings look nothing like now. It just takes time to paint every single day. If you want it, you can have it
