Please tell me that I am not the only one who cleans all over the place. Here is what my last hour looks like:
Dust one table in LR Empty small trash can in bedroom Fill the kitchen sink with bleach water Pour a glass of water and knock the creamer out of the fridge and it spills all over the floor. Mop kitchen floor Leave water container on the counter Water plants in LR Fold afghan on back of couch Dust coffee table Vacuum tile floor in bathroom Change bulb in lamp Find the pet box on the kitchen table and put Joey's Revolution on him Shake out the kitchen rugs Empty out the bleach water from the sink Wipe down kitchen counter tops Realize I had left the glass of water on the counter top and finally drink it Put the bathroom rugs back down Empty another small trash can Wipe top of washing machine and dryer
Seriously...what the heck is wrong with me??? Does anybody else clean like this?

You are most certainly in good company! My cleaning reminds me of that book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie! If I start to clean the kitchen, then the dishrags will need to go in the wash. If I am going to throw in laundry, I'd better grab the clothes that are on the floor in the kids' rooms. If I'm in my daughter's room, I'd better go ahead and clean out her drawers of clothes that are too small. If I start a bag for Goodwill, I might as well gather more items from my son's room. When I put the bags for Goodwill in the car I realize my car could use a good vacuuming...and so on and so forth! It's exhausting!!

Don't forget---
wipe down base boards wipe tops of door jams, picture frames, flat screen tvs wipe ceiling fan blades wipe handprints off doors vacuum inside of drawers dust light bulbs so you don't set that burning smell from the dust fold, sort and store cleaning rags according to size and absorbency
...to name a few more. Yeah, I get where you're coming from....lol

If left to my devices, yes, I will clean like that. I'll make sure I concentrate on one room and then if something needs taken to another room to put away, I'll just take several items at once, dump them and then go back to where I was. I'll worry about those items when it's THAT room's turn. It's helping!

When I was a SAHM this is how my cleaning went. Now I don't devote chunks of time to Cleaning - I just do a task so it doesn't really happen.

That's exactly how I clean a good part of the time. I get distracted when I need to do something that isn't in the same room ( go put something up , for example) and it eventually totally derails me.

I used to be more like that, but now I'm not. I make a point to work on one room at a time and throw all the stuff that needs to go into other rooms or places into a laundry basket. Once the room has been emptied out of the stuff that doesn't belong, vacuumed, dusted, etc. I'll run around with the basket of stuff and put it all away. Then on to the next room. However, I will do things like put a load of laundry in the washer and three hours later throw it in the dryer. It may or may not get folded that same day. Or I'll put some toilet bowl cleaner in the toilet, close the lid so the dogs don't drink it and come back to it a while later after it's had a chance to soak. Same thing with the crock pot that DH didn't spray with cooking spray before using it so the junk is totally cooked on, that kind of thing isn't going to be tackled that same day. It's sitting in the sink until morning. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I feel the same way, i'll set out to clean a particular room and will get to something like the trash and think...i'll just grab the rest of the trash cans around the house too (because it only makes sense.) Before I know it i'm in another room totally distracted by something else. Sometimes it's the computer and twopeas

My cleaning typically goes something like this: Start to clean downstairs bath Remember that I need to get kitchen trash can to put used toilet scrubber head refill in Go to kitchen to get trash can and while I'm there think I need to replenish supply of Chlorox wipes Walk into pantry and then wonder why I'm in there Remember and grab wipes Bad song comes on my Pandora feed so go to thumbs down it I feel I need an iced tea so I make one Go back into bathroom and notice hand towel is yucky Start to go get clean towel from laundry room, but return to bath to take dirty towel the same trip (and feel really proud of myself for remembering) Etc, etc, etc

I'm the same way. I get side tracked easily. Somehow I manage to get the job done and my house looks picked up. Well, that could be because it's just me and 18 yo ds and it's never really messy any way.

Yep, I'm with you all in the ADD House Cleaning team bench. Add that to the (as mentioned on other post) that I am no longer working a regular job so have no deadline/schedule so I procrastinate BIG time, I'm screwed.
My only saving grace is once in a while I in the I-have-a-deadline-mood and get things done. Need those more often.

Does anybody else clean like this? My poor mother used to do something similar. She'd start in one room, make the mistake of going into another room and starting in there too always thinking "I'll just go back to the other room in a minute", and that would work until she'd enter a third room. Before we knew it, the entire house would literally be turned upside down, then she'd lose her steam and quit. We grew up in a very messy house. Ugh. For her, it was an attention thing. I (the daughter) had to help her stay focused on one room at a time. Took a few years, but she finally figured it out. For me, it looks a bit more like this, a more top down approach... Dust the house Clean the kitchen Clean bathrooms Put laundry in Sweep all the floors (onto the carpet) Mop kitchen/bathrooms Vacuum the carpet/furniture 2nd load of laundry in/1st load in dryer Grab glass of wine and pick a good movie Sit down and wait for laundry Fold with wine during good movie and relax Total house clean time (minus laundry) is about 2 hours.

Honestly, I wish I had just a fraction of that motivation.

I am a totally scattered housekeeper my self. I tell my husband all the time that we need to fire our housekeeper (which is me!) I can set out to clean the master bathroom, put cleaner in the toilet and then end up doing a bunch of other tasks that do not involve the bathroom. Then I get tired and call it a day and the only thing clean in the bathroom is the toilet!
