We recently upgraded one of our iPads.
I want to give it to my sister.
She has wifi.
And a cell phone.
No computer.
Will the iPad work?
Someone told me that she needs to have a computer to sync it to.
Is that true?
I don't want to give it to her and for her to be disappointed that she can't use it.

Yes, it will work fine. In the case of my family, it was nice to sync my childrens' ipads to the PC so we had all the same music/movies/videos loaded onto it (and I mean music and movies that came from external sources, not apple sources), but if your sister is starting from scratch, she does not need to sync anything. And icloud backup is totally sufficient (you can also back up to a PC, but I wouldn't say it was necessary). It's definitely not needed in order to work.

We bought my MIL an iPad so she doesn't have to use a computer. You don't need to sync.

No issues.
I can get any app. I surf the Internet and watch Netflix and Hulu on it.

As long as she's anywhere with wifi, she will be all set. I even take mine on trips and use it on the ride. Our truck has wifi.

My sister has an iPad 2 and no computer. She loves that thing. She even prints to her wireless printer with it.
I have an iPad mini and I've never synced it to my MacBook Pro. (Hanging my head in shame because I really should do this. LOL)

If you have pictures and music and don't sync them, aren't they gone if you lose the iPad or it's somehow destroyed?
