I know the person referred to in this thread. I think since she's chosen to not be here, it is impolite to put her name out there. Even if you didn't like her and disagreed with her 1000%, it doesn't do anyone good to bring her up by name when she isn't here to respond.

Just thought I'd join this thread to mention that I am at work right this minute, and I am posting on the board. Just to say I did.

Just thought I'd join this thread to mention that I am at work right this minute, and I am posting on the board. Just to say I did. Oh yeah- me too! I am self-employed, FTR, and got slapped on the old board for moaning about my employee/s spending heaps of time on Facebook.... particularly the one who took heaps of smokebreaks, and got through very little actual work. I plead guilty to this being a time-sucker. I am in a different time zone, though, would not presume to know who else is at work or not.

Personally, I don't feel it's the business of anyone on this board who may or may not be posting from work and what their employer may have to say about it.
If my child came home and said that they suspected their teacher was posting on the internet all day, I'd approach the teacher and would possibly escalate to administration.
It's not up to any pea to try and dictate who can post at work and who cannot. It's just not your business.
I can't believe many replies on this thread...giving reasons why they're posting or why they can't. It's no one's business. I'm fairly confident most employers with computers know how to check on the internet habits of their employees. I don't think this is any issue the peas need to concern themselves with.

I didn't realize there was a blow up about Mrs. T, her internet usage & that she left the NSBR board. Missed that one.

I have no dog in this fight, but do know if someone called that was certainly over the line. But I will say if my kid was in that class I would have taken notice.
Cough coughThat school must have been in session quite a bit.

we talk about people who aren't here all the time, are you going through those threads handslapping as well? this is why people think you ARE her! I haven't come across others that were using a persons first and last name and repeating rumors. I would "hand-slap" if I see it being done to other peas, friends or not. It just feels wrong to me to be using someone's first and last name on the internet when they aren't providing it themselves. I'm simply saying this place is a better community when we respect one another and refuse to cross lines that might have a negative impact on a member (or in this case, someone who decided to not become a member.) And even if that former pea was here using a new name, why would you need to try to out her? What do you gain? It's creepy that it matters so much to you. Respect that a member will share what they are comfortable sharing and it's not your business to make public information of anything else.

Lol the only reason why I said anything is because people were all like it isn't your computer but the businesses. That simply isn't always the case. People need to expand their horizons. There are all kinds of different jobs out there.

I was married in 2002 and spent a lot of time on TheKnot message boards. Lots of the girls had signatures with their plans in them. (Wedding date, photographer, venue, caterer, florist, etc.) Someone made an enemy and they used all that info to call and cancel all her vendors. As a result, when I came out of lurkdum at 2peas, my username had nothing to do with my IRL name...and I also limited what I share.
Of course, I realize now that people can find you even with an unrelated username...so I'm back to my username being me.

Oh my! That is so incredibly awful! Canceling someone else's wedding vendors just for revenge for an online argument. Wow!

I pea at work all the time. There are literally hours a day when I can do my work and read the computer. We hand-fold our invoices and rental notices for 600+ accounts. It's mind-numbing work and I always pea during that time. I also can pea when I'm making collection calls, there's plenty of time to read between actual conversations. My boss is my office mate and many times she is asking me what the topics are and we discuss! We're pretty low-key here.

Someone, early on in this board. admitted that they were the one who called Mrs T's employer. They said that they did it because taxpayers deserved to know that she was screwing off on work time. I don't remember who it was though. Like I said, mind like a sieve! There was a whole thread discussing it and most people were appalled that she did it.

Please notice that I did not mention any names at all in my OP.
When Two Peas closed suddenly I debated very shortly if I should even join another board due to the particular incident I alluded to. I would hate to anger someone on the internet and have my job put in danger.

From what I do know about the specific situation in question, it was alleged but proven untrue. The accusations pointed to days when the school was out of session and posts were made from personal devices and not from school property. But really, it doesn't matter what job you have or if you're a SAHM as I am. I've seen peas accuse SAHM's of neglecting their kids to post on 2peas. If someone is pissed off enough, they'll go to crazy town regardless of your employment situation. Really, unless you are right next to the person when they're posting you don't know what else is going on around them and their circumstances. I know the person referred to in this thread. I think since she's chosen to not be here, it is impolite to put her name out there. Even if you didn't like her and disagreed with her 1000%, it doesn't do anyone good to bring her up by name when she isn't here to respond. correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will) but the only person that I remember the peas accusing of neglecting her kids to post on 2peas was MrsTyler. What LimaPea did to MrsTyler was sick but let's be real K?

Hmmm. Over the years I was on 2 peas I recall plenty of threads questioning what people should be doing with their time. SAHMs were asked what their kids were doing while they were posting. I don't recall any specific pea or thread- I tend to roll my eyes and move on. But I remember laughing at the assumptions.
You're going to think whatever you'd like. I know who I am. I just think it's petty and rude to keep bringing up someone's personal information that isn't shared specifically by that person. It's all just rumors and classy women don't need to spread rumors for entertainment.

Frankly it is nobody's business if I am posting at 10:02AM or 3:30PM. Nor should it be anybody's business who is posting when on this board or any board. That situation with Mrs.T was so effed up and crosses all sorts of boundaries.

I know you'd love the stuff about your very close friend to just fade away and be forgotten but it was a small part of pea history and so it will inevitably be brought up from time to time. It's nothing to do with being classy or otherwise, it's just part of the shared history and much like the oh so effective "This thread is now closed" sentiment, I don't think your very close friend should hold her breath waiting for us all to promise we'll never mention her again.

There was no love lost between me and She Who Shall Not Be Named, but what happened to her was wrong. I would have never contacted her employer as someone who interacted with her on a message board.
Having said that, however, SWSNBN was quite the prolific poster for many years. I would certainly have a problem with one of my kids' teachers being on a message board while they were supposed to be teaching.
If I recall correctly, Mrs. _ was called on it once and claimed she only visited Two Peas during statewide testing and prep periods. I remember many other teacher Peas expressing shock that this was allowed at Mrs. _'s school. I also remember her being warned at that point to curtail her posting during school hours. That was several years and thousands of posts before crazy Lima contacted her employer.

I Pea/FB during work with the boss' permission. However, if I switch jobs, I'm prepared to no longer be able to do that.
