I only have a very few very basic dies.
I have Spellbinders nesting labels, that I use for journaling and layering purposes.
I have a QK ticket die, also used for journaling and layering.
I have a few shapes, like a Lego shape from QK.
What shapes do you have? Do you have alphas for titles?
Most shapes can be used for layering or making embellishment clusters. You can jazz up diecuts by cutting the image twice and using a pop dot inbetween to give depth. You can ink the die cut. Use Stickles on it.

When I was cutting things with dies at our LSS before it closed, I only used alphas for titles.

I just recently got a Big Shot and have only bought die sets that work for both layouts and cards - ovals, circles, a "fancy" lable set and speech bubbles. Dies are so expensive that I want to be able to use them for LOTS of projects! Although, I am really tempted to get the Lawn Fawn dies that match the stamp sets I have so I don't have to keep fussy cutting the images... lol

I don't see why dies should be only for cards. You can use just about anything on a layout. Add it to a journal box, a tag, or make a page embellishment with it.
If you are talking about dies that cut pop-up cards or some other dies used only to make cards, I rarely buy those. I have a good collection of Spellbinder dies, all of which can be used on a page. I have a few Memory Box dies, which can also be used on a layout.
I use my stamps on layouts. I don't buy anything that I can't use in scrapbooking, and pretty much everything can be used on a layout, with very few exceptions.

I use a lot of elements such as flowers or leaves and also cut titles with my cricut. A lot of what I dobis Project Life so the smaller dies are the right scale anyway.

LOL way back when in the olden days before electronic cutters, it used to be the other way around. I bought an Accu-Cut and dies for my LSS. I used them for everything: scrapbooking, card making, home decor projects, you name it because those dies were EXPENSIVE. Remember punch art? I would find or create punch art designs and then look for bigger die versions of the shapes so I could supersize them to make paper piecings for scrapbook pages. Now that I have an electronic cutter it's soooo much easier (not to mention WAY less expensive) to create custom diecuts, titles, paper piecings, overlays, you name it. I just love technology!

I use my dies about half & half for cards and scrapping. I have basic shapes like labels that work as bases for clusters, arrows, etc for embellishments. I have a few that are shapes I use mostly on cards, but then I use my Cameo mostly on LO's. I like to look at a die before I buy it, and think of ways I can use it. But then I just buy some because they are just too cute!!! I have found some of my QK and other dies will work on foam and cork that won't works as well in the cameo. But I am a tool gal, so I like them all

Nice work! The first link was really not working and took me to my own gallery at SB. I saw a lot of use of dies but do you use Big Shot or eletronic diecuts like Sillouette? I bought a Big Shot and I have the nestabilities. and some to use with stamps. But I have not use them so far. I was thinking on swichting to eletronic. What are your opinion about the eletronic x manual?

Interesting you posted this because I rarely use my dies for anything other than cards. I used to use my spellbinders to make journaling tags but I now find it easier to make something on my Silhouette. Hmmm. You've got me thinking.

Yes I have noticed that but the kit club I get often has flowers and things with as embellishments with it (chipboard or paper not real flowers always) and I think I can make my own PTI ones too.
I do buy a lot of PTI things though! Love their stamps and dies and inks. I love their cardstock but shipping it is too expensive.

Bonnie, I am always amazed at what you do with your dies! All your layouts are so original and so interesting with such fun creations. So glad you reposted the link to your galley. The first one brought up my own gallery too. How do you find someone's gallery on Scrapbook.com? I can't figure it out.

I love pti. Their stamps are just incredible. I bought a lot of my me!ory box dies and impression obsession because of Kittie Kraft's blog. She uses them for cards I'm sure if I really think about it I could use my shaped dies for something. I use my alphas and frames spellbinders basic shapes. Just the other shapes. I just think cards.
