I would like to find all the people on my tree who were born or lived in a particular town. The only search function I can find for my tree is for Person. Is there a way to search by place?
Thanks so much!

That would be an awesome tool! I haven't found a way to do it yet, though.

Nevermind. I misread the question. Sorry!
You can pull up individual census reports if you just want to see who was living in a town at a particular time.
And I have searched for people who died in a certain town by only date and place, no names. You can do the same for births.
I clicked on "Birth, Marriage, & Death", entered "1900" +/- 5 years for the birth year, and an exact town (Bloomsburg, PA was my trial town.). And it pulled up a list of 1680 hits. Then I narrowed it down to "birth, baptism, and christening" on the left side of the screen, which brought me to 1086 hits.
Now, if I had used just one single year, I would have had less to sift through.

I thought she was asking for a way to search her own tree. Save

You can use the CTRL F function to search for a certain town or year, but you'll still have to scroll through your entire list of people.

there are probably a few ways but one that is easy...the search boxes at top put in your name & the locations you are looking for.....Bennnington name...location hillsboro or highland county...it will have a list of lots of people named that..sometimes there are hundreds..sometimes there are not as many. so put in the location you are wishing to find. I also think that when you fill in the box that has the name...lists lots of things like birthplace..marriage..hometowns etc....I think when you do that too some of the others show up too... another way....go to the census for the town they have them every 10 yrs so you can just got to the census search for the town you want.. the census lists are there too.. even in the 1800s... go through the census ones for the eras you want you can search by surname in the same town I sure love to look at the census .

Thank you so much for your response. This is good information, but not exactly what I was looking for. Let me ask my question a different way: I have created a family tree on Ancestry. I would like to search my tree to see which of my relatives came from a specific town. Is there a way to search my tree for results by town name?
