My DD left her brand new baseball bat at my mom's house. I can't find another one like it online and it was bought by my MIL who of course would pitch a fit if she found out it was left behind. She already has wind it was left behind so someone in my family spilled the beans. UGGGG... of course she makes a big deal about it.
My mom who is usually mild manner is worried about finding a place to mail it and getting a box and thinks it is going to cost an arm and leg.
I called UPS who will mail it for approximately $13.. which is fine. But a box cost the same. So I am trying to figure out how to get a box.. My first thought was one of the cylinders that blueprints go in, but I think those are pretty expensive. My 2nd thought is to take a couple of just cardboard boxes and cut them into a triangle shape and tape it together with packing tape.
Any other ideas that is simple?

why can't you make your own box? just roll it in corrugated cardboard then seal the ends. you can find large (clean) boxes near dumpsters everywhere. just turn it inside out (or don't). tape it and label it well and voila!

I've even read stories where people mail basketballs unwrapped. just labeled. you'd be surprised what and how people mail stuff.

FedEx has boxes made for blueprints, can you re-label one of those? Or check FedEx ground, the cost with free box might not be that high.

Let UPS ship it and your DD would be helping to pay the cost. Was it an expensive bat?

I think FedEx should have a box that will work, depending on the size of the bat. Triangular shaped, if I recall correctly.

Oh yeah, just roll it up and tape it.. so dang simple.. DUH..
It's not an expensive bat.. It is brand new, DD is only 8. It wasn't left on accident, series of events of why it was left behind... But anyways. That is what we will do!!! I was totally over thinking it!

USPS Priority Mail has free boxes if you order online. Not sure if it's long enough... USPS Online Shipping tubeYou'd have to ship by USPS Priority mail to use the box though.

How soon do you need it? I know that ULine makes a box that fits a bat perfectly. I received one from a team last week and shipped it. Obviously that wouldn't help if you need it ASAP. But you could also try the triangle shaped tubes from Fedex? I'm not sure if they are long enough, but you could check.

Well apparently my eyes didn't see that box!!!! I looked and looked and didn't see those!! Thanks!!! I will see if she wants to make a box by just rolling it up or I will have these shipped to her..Looks like they will be long enough, says you can put golf clubs in it.

If your mom lived here I would have a box for her. My DS just got a new bat. . Good luck! I would try to make a box.

Nope, it was from Target for probably 19.99. (I went back to the store and of course not a single one there, not on-line either)... Yeah MIL is a piece of work. But that is for another day!! lol

It's not the most user friendly website, that's for sure! They will take a few days to arrive, but free boxes are awesome!

slap an address label and postage on it and it's good to go - no box needed

Years ago we used to ship things by Grayhound Bus. I don't know if they still do that but you have to take it to the bus depot and then someone has to pick it up at the depot on the other end. You could call and ask.

Even though she's only eight and not in the pros, I wouldn't mail the bat without anything around it. It will get dinged up in the mail and dings can cause problems when she uses it or if for some reason the ump decides to inspect it. (Even at eight there are crazy parents that think a flat spot will cause a better strike.)
