What the fuck! I saw this on Twitter, is this for real? My goodness, that is an awkward photo. Governor Scott spoke last night. He is an awful, awful man. I would prefer he stays in Cleveland.

I'm very impressed with Mike Pence. And I love Newt. I sort of wish Newt was the VP choice, but I'm ok with Pence.

Again-- who the heck is in charge of this circus? Who decided it it would be a good idea to let Ted Cruz, who clearly has no love lost for Donald Trump--speak at the convention? That was just sad. Donald trump said he heard cruz' speech earlier and decided to let him speak. I think he enjoyed being able to make his dramatic entrance. I'm not the target audience because I will never, ever vote for Trump or Cruz, but I have more respect for Cruz for not going along with what he was "supposed to do" and supporting trump. Trump was awful to him and his family and does not deserve his vote. Unfortunately, it sounds like Cruz' speech did the opposite of his intentions and may have brought the republicans together. I think it is laughable that their theme for tonight is "make America one again" when they have spent the whole campaign and the last three days doing what they could to make us even more divided.

Being from Cruzs home state, I am embarrassed by him. He screwed himself from having a future in politics. That's what I thought, too. Some people are saying that if Trump loses, Cruz will e positioned to run in 2020. I don't see that. There's at least an equal chance that if Trump loses, Cruz will get some of the blame. It was a risky move for sure.

I literally laughed out loud when I heard that. They're going to have to turn on a dime, aren't they?

Yes, and remember that Baptist minister's "prayer" as the benediction? He prayed that God would help keep us divided, not united. A few mixed messages here.

Been watching off and on with my 15 year old daughter. She mutters often "JESUS" during this.
She wants to know what school the Trump kids went to, because she says the Pledge of Allegience every morning (in high school now) and has since kindergarten.
Last night, when Pence said "and my most important role .... D-A-D" ... she was like "Done, headed to my room."
I find the photo at the top of this page interesting, mainly because said 15 year old just returned a week or so ago from two weeks on a soccer tour in Germany. After games, they would eat dinner and socialize with the German girls they played against. They tried to keep convesation flowing with questions (many of the German girls spoke great English, some not as much). One question they would ask the German girls is "Do you know who Donald Trump is?" Apparently they ALL knew, most not having a great impression. The one that stood out most to my daughter, though, was from a girl who she said mostly answered with yes or no as her English wasn't as good as others. When they asked her she answered "Yes, he is America's Hitler!"
And as for Cruz, I give him props for having the balls to stand his ground and NOT endorse Trump!

I think that is exactly what led people to where we are now---going along with things for the parties sake, even just for appearances. When people pull out the one bat shit crazy person from 16 other viable candidates---someone(s) at the head of the party should be listening to TGAT! See, and I disagree. I think we got to this place BECAUSE we had 16 people who couldn't differentiate themselves from the pack. We had too many choices, and because of it, everyone split their votes around to too many people. The Christian Conservatives didn't vote for Trump - they were behind Rubio and Cruz. If they even voted at all. Trump is here now because he said what many non-Christian Conservatives think/feel. They are ready for change - even if they aren't thinking about what that change will be. I think that if we had viable 3 choices, from the get go, Trump wouldnt be where he is now. But everyone wanted to make a point by running and Boom. Trump is the guy. I live in a very Christian Conservative area. I only know of one person that admits to voting for Trump. One. Most of the people I know were behind Cruz. As odious as Trump is, I'd take him over Cruz any day. So thank goodness there were so many candidates to pick from.

It is petty and childish and does nothing but give people something to share on facebook.

Holy shit, this guy basically just gave the Republican party credit for the civil rights movement in the 60s The Republican Party used to be more moderate than it is now. Southern Democrats and Northern Democrats used to be two very different groups, and Southern Democrats weren't going to have anything much to do with the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. But enough Republicans in Congress came through to pass them anyway. So yes, Republicans -- old-style Republicans -- do get some credit for it. (I think MLK Jr. was a Republican. It used to be the party of the liberals and black people in the South. The party of Lincoln.) But after the mid-'60s, Richard Nixon saw an opening and formed the Republican party's "Southern Strategy," and tempted most of the old-style Southern Democrats over to the Republicans instead, in retribution against the Democrats for passing the Civil Rights laws. And that, my dear, explains the Southern Democrats' complete flip over to the Republicans in less than a generation. ETA but it doesn't really explain why today's Republicans have the nerve to claim credit.

I am so done with this band Guess we are afraid of being sued for using someone else's music? Reminds me of the crap my old used to play on the keyboard. You know. All the prearranged music that all you had to do is hit one button?

I am so done with this band Me too!! One would think that they could have done better. Although, I had to laugh...partly at myself, and partly at the audience. When they played A/C D/C early on, the people dancing I thought, God forgive me, "look at all the old people dancing..." and then I realized they were probably my age. My next thought was that I hoped I didn't have to listen to them much longer. Little did I know, they would be around ALL. DAMN. NIGHT.
