I'm very impressed with Mike Pence.
And I love Newt.

Dh needs to find what he is going to watch and change the channel quick. As someone in Indiana, I can't listen to Pence any longer. His delivery was terrible. I had it on while texting so I was tuned in and out, but it was grating on my nerves.

I just caught the last few minutes. All I heard from the commentators was "this convention is so messed up!" Tom Brokaw was left speechless.

Loved Pence! This was the first time I've heard him but I liked his enthusiasm and Dh thought it was sweet that his wife teared up.
Newt was great and I like the way he handled the Cruz thing. Well done.
Eric did well too. I've been impressed with the Trump children.
We ditched cable a few months ago and being a news junky I was so looking forward to watching convention coverage in the evenings since we no longer have cable news. NPR/PBS coverage has been horrible. I'm so dissappointed with the cut aways during speeches, the commentators snide remarks and the overall coverage.

Again-- who the heck is in charge of this circus?
Who decided it it would be a good idea to let Ted Cruz, who clearly has no love lost for Donald Trump--speak at the convention? That was just sad.

I'm very impressed with Mike Pence. And I love Newt. Mike Pence seems like a really good balance to Donalds personality. So far he seems like a wise choice.

As someone in Indiana, I can't listen to Pence any longer. he is not someone I would want to have a proverbial beer with (especially because I don't drink beer), but, I actually think his speech is pretty good, although the delivery a bit smarmy politician-ish. At least he can laugh at himself.... And his mom was adorable! . Erin I don't agree with a damn thing he said but his mom kissing him was adorable on stage! Now Donald kissing him...lol. I saw a tweet with a pictures of Chris Christie in audience with the caption "I woulda kissed him". 😂😂😂 Eta: Ted Cruz has some brass ones. Good for him. I've never been a fan but he sure stuck to his guns. Love that Hillary already tweeted "Vote your conscience". Her social media team has been on point this week.

Being from Cruzs home state, I am embarrassed by him.
He screwed himself from having a future in politics.

Being from Cruzs home state, I am embarrassed by him. He screwed himself from having a future in politics. I agree. They all pledged to support the eventual nominee. Both he and Kasich have shown they will not honor their pledges. I voted for Cruz in the NY primary (my number 1 and 2 choices were out of it by then) but he will never receive another vote from me.

I know we shun scrapbooking related news here at the NSRB, but former published scrapbooker, and product line designer, Michelle Van Etten was a speaker tonight at the RNC.

I think Cruz slit his political throat and Trump will have the last laugh. I am sure Melania is happy the focus isn't on her now.
I don't see how Cruz gains anything by doing what he did.
Even if Trump loses in November and Cruz says remember I told you to vote your conscious I think he did nothing to make his party stronger.

He screwed himself from having a future in politics. I think it's a good strategic move. The Bush's, McCain, and Romney didn't attend the convention and do not endorse him. I think he's looking at the election in 4 years. Utah pledged its delegates to Cruz, Iowa was upset, and Colorado walked out. I hope, hope, hope he does not win, but if he does Cruz is probably hoping to oust him like George Sr. was after 4 years. The public opinion of Trump would have to be low and I don't think that would be hard. I do not know what possessed them to have Ted Cruz speak. Again, another example of poor decisions at a convention that were stupid, like plagiarizing a speech. It's those repeated bad things that keep adding up that make me question how Trump can pick an effective administration. Then there's so many things that comes out of Trumps mouth that is unbelievable. He (Cruz) absolutely lied like all politicians do. I wonder on the politician scale of lying where this lies; probably about a 2. The memory of most of the public is very small unless it's major; then you have to justify your choice.

I'd lay this on Cruz, not the Trump campaign

The Youngevity website lists her biography under the title Senior Vice Chairman Marketing Director, as do her Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Youngevity is a multi-level marketing system focusing on selling nutritional supplements and other products. Multi-level marketing is a sales system in which a salesperson earns money on the sales of each subsequent salesperson he or she recruits." Oh dear.

I vote for Republicans on a local level frequently, but this convention is all kinds of messed up.

I'd lay this on Cruz, not the Trump campaign I understood it as they got a copy and were aware he wasn't going to endorse him but they let him speak anyways. I think the way Trump walked on the stage while he was speaking was calculated on Trumps part and took the momentum Cruz was trying to create.

The reporting on MSNBC was that Trump was prepared for what Cruz did. He was waiting and made his entrance as soon as the booing started. That took the attention off Cruz and focused it squarely on Trump. Amazing marketing skills.
Still don't think he has the character or temperament to be president, though.
ETA jinx!

Canadianscrappergirl: "I thought the speech by the soap star was meh and the Muslim for trump speaker was ineffective I thought." Her name is Kimberlin Brown and she played a psychopath murderer on a few soaps. While she was on said soaps, there were rumors swirling that she was "trouble" and unbalanced in real life, so this makes sense.

The fact that Trump let Cruz speak without demanding an endorsement was a good move. Trump could be our next president. I'm looking for glimpses of the man behind the show. Tonight's Donald doesn't seem to hold a grudge and is confident enough to give men free rein to do what they want with the microphone.
So, yah. There's that. It's not a bad thing in my book.
It kinda confirms my gut feeling that this showman is more middle of the road and mellow than he lets on. But I own that it could be wishful thinking on my part, too. I confess, trying to unravel the puzzle keeps me interested.

Oh,and Lauren, I don't know Mike Pence, but his wife was my BFF's child's elementary art teacher. They loved Karen.
I've never had a problem with Pence the politician myself, but I do skew more hardcore conservative. I do know a lot of Hoosiers that wouldn't spit on him if he were on fire. They are not hardcore conservative. LOL
