The little Polish grandmother came to the shop one day to make a "bread". She only showed her daughter the recipe, but went slow so I could watch. (Granddaughter got slapped away , funny story to tell later)
9 x 13 pan Lined with a sweet dough Filled with sweet farmer cheese filling and soaked currents Then topped with a lattice made from the sweet dough.
Baked and cut into squares. It was pretty solid like cheesecake.
So did you did ever have this?

I am SO Polish! Yes, my great-grandma used to make this but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called.

I think it uses Quark. We had a store bought one from Aldi a couple of times (my mother is German). My grandmother makes a baked cheesecake with Quark.
Gilly.

Except for the currants its sound like my grandmother's polish cheesecake (Sernik). Now I miss granny, she made the best perogies.

This is what it looked like, but in a 9x13 rectangle pan. And a sweet bread dough not pastry.

@megmc , you need a new new avatar! littlemama already has this exact one. It is in the list of pre made avatars. I had my beautiful chicken, but with whoever tracking down peas by photos, well I will stick with board avatars.

I really would not have called it a cheese cake Polish "cheesecake" is slightly different from American "cheesecake".
