We were at a wedding last night - they had koozies that were monogrammed. While they were nice to hold my beer in, I didn't bring mine home. I dont need to newlyweds monogram on anything!

You can never go wrong with M&M's. My niece and new nephew-in-law did three different CDs (different types of music) at their wedding last year and people just took whichever ones they wanted. That was a big hit. I also think not doing any favors is just fine. Weddings are so over the top! I think weddings are so over the top too! I want a really nice wedding but on a budget. It's gonna be a short and sweet ceremony with cake and punch reception. Nothin fancy. ETA--I'm doing my own flowers and decorating. I'm doing hair for the wedding party of course. Lol. Friends doing the cake and music. My cousin has connections at the venue so that's basically free (We do set up and clean up).

We had a huge candy bar. There were gift bags for people to create their own "Favor" with. It was a huge hit. Being OCD, we had far more candy than we could possibly use so I donated the remaining candy (after all the guests and janitorial staff took what they wanted) to the synagogue. Six months later, they were still putting it out at meetings and functions. (Did I mention that I do nothing in a 'small way'?

I was trying to talk my dd into a clay pot with a succulent in it and then decided it was just a waste of money. We have had many friends kids get married and they have made a donation to a charity in lieu of a favor and put a card at each chair stating that. DD and fiance are just skipping the entire idea and mention of one, which I agree with.

I can remember only one favor I really liked. The wedding photographers took pictures of every couple or family at the wedding and printed them right there and handed them out in a cardstock frame.

I think the fans are enough. Most of the time we end up getting things like little photo frames that are too small to be useful, soap that has a smell we don't like, things like that. I like the candy favors and will happily pick up any that people leave behind, especially if they're little boxes of truffles!

I was going to do a Chinese cookie made in a moon cake mold inside a mini bamboo steamer. Unfortunately the dimensions of the steamer were the outside dimensions and my cookies did not fit, so I served the cookies with the cake and filled the steamer with Hershey's kisses and hugs that were going to be in the candy bar. I'd say 95% of the favor candy was taken but very little of the candy bar since everyone already got candy at the table. I ended up with a steamer or two left over from about 110. I ended up selling all the unused steamers and the one or two left over to someone on craigslist and threw in the red ribbons I used to tie them closed. I bought them somewhere online. I also bought linens, cutlery, wine glasses and sold or gave away all of it. It was cheaper than renting. I also gave out 25 parasols and about 3 of them made it home with me. I swear my niece kept at least 3. I think mostly family took them but they were for anyone who wanted one, my in-laws had my autograph one parasol for dh's grandma who was too elderly to make it. We ended up visiting her that summer.

I think the fans are a great idea for an outdoor wedding and a nice keepsake for those who wish to have one.
We used Burnes of Boston picture frames that doubled as the place cards for the tables. I figured that way they were useful & pretty during the reception, and people could take them if they wanted them. I don't know if people ultimately kept them after the wedding, but I do know that there was not a single frame left when the reception was over.

I vote no to favours, they are a huge waste of money and usually just get thrown in a drawer because I can't bring myself to throw them away. Edible favours are the exception. I think if you have the fans then you have no need to do anything else.

Lol
I'm making program fans that will have our picture on them because it's an outdoor ceremony, will that serve as a favor as well?
We are also doing program fans because my dd's ceremony is outside too. We aren't having favors per se but we are having a cookie table. We bought little bags with their initials on them so people can take some home if they'd like.
This weekend was her shower and my sister who was in charge of the favors left them at home 3 hours away. They are mini wine bottles with a chalkboard sticker over the label. She wrote their names & date on them.

Best favor we ever got was a box with two donuts from a locally famous bakery. Each person got a box on the way out. It had a cute little sticker on it about being out late and having breakfast on them.
