I am in charge of our church hosting an event. We need people to sign up ahead of time, but not pay until the day of. What would be the best way for people to sign up online so we have a definite list of who is coming?
We will accept people that just walk in, but I want as accurate head count as possible.
Is this making sense to you?
Thanks
THANK YOU!! I set up a google event registration. I really just need a number and to make sure they know they are paying the day of, there is actually a box they have to click saying they know they are paying that day.
Thanks again!!

Google Drive has a good form option that dumps straight into a spreadsheet, and it is free and easy to use. You can add whatever questions you want (# of people attending, names, etc).

Maybe a google doc that anyone can open and edit would work that way if someone changed their mind all they would have to do was delete their name. This would only work if you were linking it to a website so people had a way to access it.

Just recently used Survey Monkey to do this for a group of 200. They also have an events website but we had the survey monkey account.

Evite.com or SignupGenius.com work well.

Friends of mine host an annual charity fundraiser crop. They have everyone mail them a post dated paper check to hold their spot so they know as far in advance as possible how many people to plan for. The nice thing about doing it that way is that they don't end up having a whole lot of no-shows on the day of the event because people have committed enough to send in a check and they know it WILL be cashed even if they don't go.
I would worry about people registering and saying they will go, and then decide on the day of not to and then you're stuck paying for a bunch of food and other stuff that was paid for ahead of time that goes unused. It always amazes me how many people have no problem bailing on something they agreed to attend just because they have no skin in the game.

Eventbrite might be another one. I've listed non-profit events there for free. We didn't need to track attendance, but I think that was a free option.
