Um. That's a joke, right? Please tell me it's a joke. It can't really be all the PR team has to say about Trump, right?

It's promoting his theme of "he's a winner"!

Um. That's a joke, right? Please tell me it's a joke. It can't really be all the PR team has to say about Trump, right? It is from his twitter feed. My friend in California sent the link. I have no idea if it is only on Twitter, or if it is running on TV. As another pea said, I think it is to emphasize that people like him. (but I find it odd)

I watched it and agree. It is showing that people like him and agree with some of what he says.

The people running this campaign, including the candidate, remind me of middle school students.
And they pitch theirs ads and tweets and sound bites to an audience that they appear to believe thinks like them.
The taunting tweet about Elizabeth Warren a couple day ago? Middle school rhetoric. Examples abound. Counting the minutes of applause (at your own convention)? That's a middle schooler's metric for success.
(Yes, we all love our own middle-schoolers. But no, we would not want them running their little sister's lemonade stand, let alone a country.)
This is getting serious. It's time to grow up.

It actually WORKS on some people. Which tells me that the whole 'MURICA joke is not far from reality. Have you ever seen the movie "Idiocracy?" I feel like that's the direction we're heading. I'm not sure why he thinks this is a convincing reason to vote for him - I fully expect Hillary to get applause at the DNC. I also expect that when I go to a concert, people will applaud the band playing. When I watch a sporting event, people usually cheer for the home team. It would be noteworthy if they DIDN'T, considering that these are events where people are self-selecting to attend! Save

What a dumbass.
I heard about this earlier today though...he was being criticized for giving too long of a speech (75 mins), and it was really long. He's trying to make the point that it really wasn't abnormally long at all, it was the applause (1/3 of the time) that made it seem that way.

He's trying to make the point that [his speech] really wasn't abnormally long at all, it was the applause (1/3 of the time) that made it seem that way. Heh. And Bill Clinton's disastrously long speech at the 1988 Democratic convention could have been shorter had some of the audience not erupted into grateful applause when he said, "So, in conclusion..." So applause works both ways.

If applause indicates agreement and support, does this mean that for 67 percent of the time people did not like what he had to say?
