and half of the management companies i'm talking to don't seem to act like they want to take my money.
I'm looking to rent a place after hours for a cookout-- so far the only two that have openings are $650 an hour and $900 an hour! Cripes! I can rent a lodge that sleeps 20 and have people over for $950 a night, I didn't think that would be my best deal.
Good grief.
Maybe I should put a pool in, I could finance it with two years of parties!
I don't know how much I thought it would be, but it wasn't this much!

I would imagine the liability is a huge factor.
Your parties sound like fun!!

We pay a yearly (really a summerly) membership to our private old neighborhood pool of $380 per summer. To rent the pool out after hours for two hours for up to 25 guest is $200. Any more guests and the cost goes up due to more lifeguards needing to be on duty.
Do you know someone who is a member of a pool like this and could get you in on their rate?

Everyplace that is open that weekend has a flat hourly rate regardless of where you live :/
I wonder how much sweet talking this is going to take...DH will be home soon, i'd better get to cooking. ha.
I would just join somewhere if it would help. Even daily admission is $$$ $9 a person! Who can afford that? Memberships are definitely the way to go. Most of the places are putting in slides/lazy rivers/etc so I know that adds staff, but criminy.

last week I went to a rooftop party that was poolside at a hotel. The hotel guests were still at the pool, but we were buying drinks from the bar so it was in the hotel's favor to allow our group to host an event there. We paid $10 to attend, not sure if that went to reserving the roof or not? We were a small group, of 40 maybe.
One hotel here has a Sunday pool party for adults that is $25 and includes a free burger, and they have a cash bar, pool floaties and DJ.
Do you have a hotel you could try?

There isn't really one that is big enough that I've found. Now that i'm running numbers I'm looking at between 150-200 people depending, families, catered dinner, and most likely a dj. We would take over the hotels that are nearby. I would MUCH rather be hosting a hotel party! lol. There is actually a club that has a pool that looks like fun, but we try to do two family friendly parties a year.

Do you have any local parks with pools or lakes; or beaches? Probably much cheaper to rent a pavillion at one of those.
By me, the pavillions rent for about $90 for 4 hours; have access to the pool/lake, have charcoal grills etc. That's for a weekend rate.
During the week for a few hours, it's only $30

But would a lodge that sleeps 20 really be ok with you bringing 130+ extra guests? $900 for 200 people is what, less than $5 per person. The pool has to pay their liability insurance and lifeguards. Could you find a house with a pool in your area? Some homes you can rent for a large function, my friend rented one for a wedding. She found it on VRBO. It was advertised as a home you could rent for a 100 guest function.
You could hire a lifeguard. Even hire a cleaning company to clean up afterwards. And still spend less then your pool rental costs.
