2nd EDIT: I've added a new thread over in the Challenges sub board... Thought I'd double up to make sure people could find it wherever they looked, and make sure anyone who missed this post saw it and know's they're welcome to join in This is the other thread: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/2444/july-mood-board-challenge-welcomeEDITED TO ADD: New Pinterest account for our mood boards is Scrap Refugee
The July mood board on the new account is 2014-07 July Mood BoardI loved the mood boards and seeing what everyone created out of the same inspiration... I'm wondering if anyone else misses them and would want to figure out a way of doing our own version of them? I've created a July Mood Board on Pinterest and made one layout... If anyone wants to join in, please do! Since it's so much easier to post photos in threads on here, I was thinking we could have a monthly Mood Board thread... Someone - and I'm happy to do it or take turns, could start a thread with a link to the mood board and everyone could post photos of their projects in that thread... I know not everyone would want their projects shared on a public site like Pinterest, so sharing it in one thread would keep it here and let us check out each other's work... Any thoughts?

Oooh we could collect those colour schemes on Pinterest and have a vote on the one to use as the basis for the mood board the following month too.
Those are fun colours I will definitely go have a look at your mood board.

Thanks everyone So a mood board is a collection of images - can be of anything, but there's usually a theme or connection between them... So they could share colours, or styles, or subject matter, etc... You look at the images and the mood board and use them as inspiration for a layout... You can pull some or all or just a little inspiration from them... In my layout, I tried to use oranges and pinks and green - taking inspiration from the colour of the melons... I would normally go to blues for a beach picture so trying new colours was part of the fun and challenge of it... I also took inspiration from the beach umbrella with the stripes and used those as embellishments... There's really no rules - new picture, old picture, use as much inspiration or as little... It's just meant to be a jumping off point, and it's really cool to see where other people go from the same staring point... I think I saw that you can add a poll into threads - at the end of the month we could vote on what the next mood board could be, or we could vote on just one image and I can put together a mood board around that... However everyone wants to do it is good with me Oh, and I'll post what papers and embellishments I used when I get home... (That umbrella at the bottom right is bugging me so I might swap it out...lol) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I love that idea! I love the 2peas mood boards. I've always wondered how folks created the mood board collage/cover. Do you know how to do that? If I could figure out how to create it, I wouldn't mind hosting one month. Would definitely need a tutorial though.
I like the polling idea or compiling different suggestions and building a mood board around that works too. I'm open.
Love your layout - so pretty!

I'm not completely sure how they did that collage cover... I think I could save the pinned images, create a collage with either Pages or a photo app, and then pin or post that in the thread... I'll fool around with some stuff and share what I figure out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds like fun, although I haven't actually scrapped in ages and ages. However....my Israel photos are staring at me, with that same kind of *stare* that my dog gives me when it's dinner time...you know, burning attention that won't go away. So I need some kind of motivation to get back into the swing of things. This might do it, although you all who use lots of new products will have to put up with old-fashioned me.

Actually I just remembered that I have three mood boards I created for a competition over on a digi site. I used Photoshop Elements, creating my own template to fit in the various images I had pinned. Using Pinterest you obviously don't need to do that, but I'd just throw this out there as possibles. We could actually just select a few of the colour schemes that go around Pinterest, vote to get the one for the next month, then we could have a group Pinterest board where different people can add in ideas based on that colour scheme and a theme/season. These are the ones I did for the comp. Hot Summer Nights Vintage Summer Bold and Beautiful

Monklady - don't worry about age of product AT ALL! My LSS closed a couple months ago, I used to order maybe once or twice a year from 2Ps but that's done now... My mom and I do a yearly weekend of shopping across the border and that's when I'll be sticking up on stuff from now on... The mood board is not competitive or a show off type thing at all... It's a fun way for everyone to be working on something that's kinda the same, but getting to see how they make it completely their own Maybe if someone's struggling with a certain LO we could even create a mood board around that... If someone's trying to make a masculine layout but that includes florals, if there's a colour combination they're struggling with, or a technique, or incorporating/using older products in different ways... I'm getting excited about we can inspire each other with this! Keep the ideas and suggestions coming and near the end of July we can see what ideas to incorporate Is it wrong that I'm happy in our new home? lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I never used the mood boards at 2peas but I'm in favour of trying them here - it's all about new beginnings, right?

So you mean that one mood board is "hot summer nights"? So something like that would be posted, with a bunch of images, and then we'd make a layout that's inspired by something there? But it doesn't have to tie in all the ideas? So for example, looking at those images in "hot summer nights" the photo of the skyline reminded me of a trip we took to Baltimore's inner harbor. So that would be my inspiration to do a layout of that? Sounds fun.

You choose something from the images, whether it be colour, shape, pattern, theme, location, and run with it. I think technically you are meant to use several ideas from a mood board as inspiration but there isn't going to be any mood board police I would imagine!

I love the idea of this. I have been in a scrapping slump lately & maybe this will inspire me. Do we have all month to do a LO? Thanks for doing this. Yup, all month I was trying to brainstorm different things we could do now that we all get to decide how we want it done, and so I think near the end of the month I'll take everyone's suggestions and ideas and ask what people would like... We could incorporate sketches into the mood board, or have them biweekly or weekly, we could keep a monthly one and add a weekly spin for those who want to do more - things like the NSD challenges where they'd say an embellishment you had to use or a word that had to appear on your page... Any wishes or ideas or suggestions - let me know... I'll figure out some way for us to vote or decide on what we'd like, and we can try some new stuff next month Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So that would be my inspiration to do a layout of that? Sounds fun. And since we're all in charge of how this goes now, if you're really stuck on an idea for a LO or photo - mention it I think it would be great if someone mentioned having problems with the colour scheme to use for a certain photo, or how to mix two very different styles, and then the mood board could give examples and hopefully inspire that way... I don't think the mood board has to always be tied into the month/season it happens to be - don't think October's board has to just be about oranges and blacks and pumpkins, for example... Okay, so I started a Pinterest account just for our mood boards... I pin way to much stuff to my account - our stuff would get lost...lol Feel free to follow me if you like, but I've posted the July mood board over on the new account... This could be good too for the submission/voting - we could create a "Vote" board where all the ideas could be and then once we pick which one we're doing, give it it's own board... So, the new Pinterest account just for our mood boards is Scrap Refugee, and the direct link to July's mood board is 2014-07 July Mood Board... I've also added a rough collage of colours, but obviously pull whatever inspiration you want from the images...
