90 items are gone from my closet! I'm only about halfway through, but it looks a whole lot better! I've gotten rid of everything that doesn't fit, but I'll wear it someday! I've gotten rid of everything that I bought because it was a good deal, but I really didn't care to wear that much! I'm trying to find a 20% or so that I actually do wear!
I'm trying to Declutter! The one place I don't think I can declutter is in my craft room. ;(

We have been doing the same the last 2 years. It feels really good to free up the space. Last year we got rid of 2,015 items and are doing it again this year for 2,016 items. Although we are only at about 900 for the year so we better get to moving if we want to make the goal.

Good job! I love doing my closet. Well, I mean I love the results. I don't love the actual "doing". But in the end it's worth it.

Great!
One small suggestion as you continue -- change your word choice.
If you think of things as "missing" "gone" or "lost" you are at some level feeling that it's a negative thing.
If you "free up space" "simplify" or "clear" -- or other positive words of your choice, then you are keeping both the action and the language to describe the action in a positive light.
For my mom, it's all about "donate" or "recycle". If we say to trash something, she gets very resistant. If we suggest that she donate it (to a landfill, though we may not verbalize that) she is absolutely on board.
Not everyone is as sensitive to the word choice, but I think on some level all of us do reflect our inner attitude to the process of purging and decluttering by the words we choose. My DH experiences it all as loss. Even clearing out the cardboard boxes he's accumulated -- when I recycle those he'll wail "I'm not even to be allowed to keep the boxes!? " His word choice was so odd and uncharacteristic, it made me stop and think about what was going on there. I believe he was echoing the anxiety his parents, specially his mom, found in their many chaotic moves around the world. So for him, it all feels like giving up things of value, losing good stuff, being deprived. I've found that if I can frame it all in terms of what will be gained -- a clear and well organized space that will be so nice for working on his model trains, for example, I get much better buy-in.

Wow!! That's amazing! I need to do my closet and my kitchen cabinets in the worst way. But it's too hot to do anything currently. Maybe next week when it's a bit cooler.

Way to go! I wish I had the discipline to tackle my closet (and drawers). Maybe I could get one of the peas to come over and pass judgement on my clothes.
I have some things that I have that I'm not completely happy with, but I keep them around because it's something I can wear to work in a pinch. I know I should remove them, but need push.

I'm working on my house too. My God we have a ton of crap! I took a load to Goodwill already and there is another one ready. I took the week off work to deal with it because I cannot start another school year like this. (Summer ends for 16 yo DS tomorrow).

I was inspired by your 90 items of clothing, so I made a pass through my closet. Found 2 sundresses, 2 jackets, a blouse, and a dress/sweater set that I put in the donation pile. These were things I was thinking of listing on eBay and finally realized I was never going to get to it. I still need to go through one of my dresser drawers because there are a couple of t-shirts in there I need to get rid of. Thanks for the motivation!

I'm trying to Declutter! The one place I don't think I can declutter is in my craft room. ;( Clothes shopping completely overwhelms me! I have lots of room in my closet and just barely started using a dresser with lots of room to spare. My scrapbook stuff? I know I'm going to use that die cut from 15 years ago. ETA: I could never remember the exact number of items I got rid of but did get a lot out of the basement yesterday!

You've inspired me. Our weather is keeping me inside on my day home. I'm going to grab 27 items for the calendar date.

That's awesome!
I go through my closet about every 3 months and force myself to toss at least 10 things, more if possible. Every time I buy new clothes, an equal amount must be purged. The last big purge was about 2 months ago when I emptied 2 big tubs of DHs clothes, all of which had not been worn since we moved in 8 years ago, and 80% of which no longer fit because he's lost 60 lbs since last year.
It's so freeing to purge! I've lost count of my number but I'm sure I'm well past 1,000 items purged.

Does anyone else have a category of items they have a difficult time purging? I hold onto cotton shirts. I don't wear cotton shirts often, but when I need one like to have them on hand so I keep a variety of collar and sleeve lengths to go under cardigans, jackets, Etc.
I know I need the rod space but can't let go...

I know I need the rod space but can't let go... Jeans and white button down shirts! i had six or seven pairs of jeans that I adored, plus I bought them on the cheap, but they no longer fit. I hung on to them until I finally accepted that I would never be that skinny again lol. In to the donation pile they went. i also had several white button downs, all only subtlety different, then I admitted I really only needed one crisp one. So I chose the newest and tossed the rest.
