So dh and I need a new mattress. BAD. We are literally sleeping on a pile of mush. Dd also needs a bigger bed (twin>>full). Since we haven't done much mattress shopping recently, I'm wondering if anyone has something they've purchased that they're happy with.
I keep hearing ads for Tuft & Needle on Sirius and the Amazon reviews are great, but it appears to be more of a platform style bed? Dh would like a Sleep Number but I don't really want to shell out that kind of $$. I know there are other brands that they ship to your house in a box (weird). We both would like something fairly firm, but I don't want any kind of memory foam because...hormones.
Help?!

Several years ago we ordered a three layer foam one from foam sweet foam. We could not be happier.

I was worried about memory foam too because I'm a walking furnace but decided to try one after reading that the new ones have the cooling gel. We bought a Serta iComfort and love it, even these last few weeks when it's been super hot.

We bought a Serta iComfort and love it, even these last few weeks when it's been super hot. I wondered if the cooling gel would work. DH sleeps during the day and our house can get hot, so we haven't gone that route, but have been looking. OP, we are also looking. Mattresses are hard because even if you lay on them at the store, you don't know how you are going to sleep on them. I'm hopeless. Currently we are looking at either Serta or Seely (can't remember they both start with s) and I figure if we get something toward the top of their price range, but not THE most expensive, then it has to be good...right?

Has anyone tried the Purple mattress? The commercials are pretty impressive, and I didn't think they were terribly expensive. DS and I both need new mattresses.

Researching mattresses also. DH and I need a new one and our oldest DD needs a new one as well. The one she has is especially awful--it was given to us by a family friend and had I known how awful it was when I said we'd take it, I never would have said we would. With mine, it's about 9 years old now and my hips are starting to bother me if I fall asleep on my side. I slept in a hotel bed for 7 nights earlier in the summer and had no pain, so I suppose it's time.

We bought a Wink bed. I was skeptical, but DH did a ton of research first. They have a 101 day return policy. It's so comfy. Sort reminds me of a Hilton hotel bed. Love it.

I have a Serta pillow top that I ADORE. But it's pretty soft so if you want firm its not for you. Super comfy.
