No. On another note, what happened to carblover? I have not been around much lately. she was venting about a birthday facebook invite she'd received from family, and a pea figured out who carblover was, found her on facebook, and notified her family member what was being said here. that family member then came to the pod to defend themselves and carblover deleted her account.

Nope. Social drinker, social smoker, social pot smoker -- okay. Meth? No chance. This sums up how I feel about it. I am being told that a certain person's meth use is "no big deal" because he just does it "socially, with friends". Ha, no. Rule: You use meth, you are a meth addict. Rule: How do you know when an addict is lying? When their lips are moving.

I agree with what everyone else has said about meth. I don't think it's possible for it to be something used socially in that it has such an intense and addictive high, unlike social drinking or pot. Sure it was developed to increase worker productivity, but it wasn't long before that backfired. I feel the same way about heroin and cocaine.
Frankly, social drinking can backfire just as badly, but stronger drugs act more quickly in causing addiction.

As someone who has witnessed it firsthand through friends and in law use, nope, no social use. Because if they are using it 3/4 days out of 7, they have the lasting affects and the cravings when not using. They are an addict. For those who are enabling, they need to get professional help just as much as the addict. If they make excuses, it will result in no progress in sobriety. I have cut off the addict and the enablers to save my sanity and to prevent my home from being full reign for pillaging for anything they can sell to get their next fix. I just watched someone lose everything due to living with a meth addict when the lab exploded in the home. They got out with literally the clothes on their back and is now homeless due to no one taking them. That whole guilty by association thing.

I agree with all the op's. Also, if this is a person you are close to and they do meth in their car or home, please limit your exposure. It leaves a toxic layer of poisonous chemicals on everything and can cause health problems. Ever see the pictures of babies or toddlers rescued from meth houses? They almost always have chemical burns on their skin from crawling around on the carpet. I hope this person gets the help they need to beat it.

My aunt and uncle adopted a baby whose mother was an "occasional" meth user. That baby has so many birth defects it will always be severely impaired. This child will never walk. Never talk. Never eat normally. It is really sad what meth can do to an innocent child.

Some alcoholics drink socially, only. Social meth use is another term for denial.

I visit the home where this person will be living quite frequently. He will be living with other relatives and now I'm concerned about their exposure to the chemicals. I will be sure to bring this up to them.

21 people have died in the month of July in a small town (26,000 people) next to us from "social meth use".
They are also reporting that those who have been saved from meth OD are needing 6-8 doses of that Narcon instead of the 1 it's supposed to need.

Meth is destructive, addictive grabs you by the balls after one time and never ever lets go. No "social" about it.
My extended family has been destroyed by meth use.

do you think there is such a thing as social meth use? If so, do you think it's a problem or is it acceptable behavior? Absolutely not.

nope- from the little I've heard about meth, you could possibly get irrevocably hooked on it the very first time you tried it, or have some really BAD shit happen the very first time you use it. (I've read a few news stories that were absolutely horrifying about what went wrong the very first time someone took it.) In my opinion, there's nothing 'socially acceptable' about any of that like there might be about having a drink or two. But then again, I personally don't agree with taking ecstasy at parties, or any of that sort of thing. I agree scary drug!!
