I posted yesterday about Sling TV. Mixed reviews. I'm looking to save money and getting rid of our Dish is a possibility. But we have certain things we want to be able to watch. Sling TV seemed to have the channels that we would want. What are some other options?
We have a smart tv, so it already has things like Amazon, Hulu, Netflix on there.
So, what are some options?

We just got an Android box about a month ago, and DH has finally agreed to go back to basic cable since we can stream whatever we want. ETA and with that post, I was a throbbing member again Didn't realize I could do it multiple times

We are getting rid of our dish but DH hasn't actually done it yet. We have Hulu and Amazon Prime. We have a Smart TV too but still have to pay for Hulu and Amazon... and use the playstation to watch them on our other TV (we can only watch Hulu on one TV at a time as well). There is also some other service for Sports that DH wants (only during football season) and some other thing he was talking about but I can't remember the name.
I am almost tempted to pay more for Hulu if I don't have to see the commercials anymore, the same ones over and over and over ugh.

I am working on getting rid of cable in my house. I bought a smart tv a couple months ago for "my space" in the house. A renovated breezeway space I love to hang out in. I got Netflix and picked up a Terk antenna. The antenna has Ike a 50 mile radius from my house and I get all the local channels including ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, about 20 total. I hate the Comcast bill every month when we watch about 10 channels total and most of those are just re-run after re-run. We replaced my DD's DVD player when it died with a streaming blu-Ray/dvd player and she mostly watches Netflix now too. Just got to get DH on board and get rid of cable on the main tv. Such a waste of money and I'll still be able to watch all the new stuff in the Fall with the antenna- for free.
I might add Hulu or our antenna came with paperwork for 20 channel packages you can subscribe to for about 20 bucks a month. If the Comcast bill goes away. Reducing it to basic cable here will pretty much give me what the antenna gives me for nothing, so I'm ready to disconnect cable.

We got rid of Dish about a year ago. We have Netflix, Sling, Hulu, and Amazon Prime and pay about $150 less a month than we did with Dish.
I occasionally buy shows on iTunes that I can't get (usually broadcast channels since I can't be bothered to watch when they're aired and can't sit through commercials.)
ETA- we also have Roku (given to us by Dish because they refused to sign with AMC and we had to have our Sons of Anarchy and we threatened to cancel) and AppleTV as well as a smart blu-ray player.

I would love to get rid of cable, but just haven't found a good alternative for sports. We are college football and NHL junkies. NHL Game Center would work for the hockey, but I haven't seen anything like it for college football.

I would love to know what the other service is that your DH is looking to get for football season. My DH is a football junkie and if it wasn't for that I could probably convince him to get rid of cable and go with another option. It's always the sports though that holds us back.

We live in a place where we wouldn't be able to get local network tv without cable or dish, and we like to watch the local news and weather. Most of the rest of what we watch is on Netflix.

Yes, you would need one for each. The antenna connects to the back of the tv. I think I paid about $40 for it Best Buy. I'm on the NH/MA border so I pick up all the Boston channels.

We are on Year III of no cable. We rotate HBO Now, Hulu and Netflix and have Time Warner for high speed internet access. We binge watch a few series and then move onto the next service. It works for us, but I am not sure it would work for everybody.

Finally started the switch when we moved. Got a great deal on basic cable/tv with our unlimited internet. Just waiting for an android box that I have been told will stream "EVERYTHING". We shall see

I would love to get rid of cable, but just haven't found a good alternative for sports. We are college football and NHL junkies. NHL Game Center would work for the hockey, but I haven't seen anything like it for college football. We are going to change from DirecTV to PlayStation VUE medium level because it has the college football that DH wants. But you have to have a PlayStation already which we do. This should save around $80 a month for us since we already had one of the lower levels of directv.
We do have Netflix already that DH and the kids use. I really need to figure it out!
Then we are thinking of getting a Roku for upstairs. But none of my three kiddos watches much tv and they watch a lot on their computers.
The only thing I will miss is my Hallmark movies.

We have a PS3, will that work? I have never heard of Playstation VUE, but it sounds like I need to look into it.
