Does anyone have a rice cooker? I'm thinking about getting one, but there are so many conflicting reviews on Amazon. I figured I would ask the peas.
I'm looking strictly for a rice cooker, not a pressure cooker because I would like to have rice warm and ready when I get home from work. My hours are really crazy lately but one thing I do know is that I love me some rice so if its home and ready it takes nothing to steam some vegetables or warm some chicken to eat with the rice instead of living off of lean cuisine.
There are some people who have cookers that they leave rice warming for a few days on Amazon (what I want) and then there are others who have tried to do that but then the rice starts to smell bad after a few days.
Do you have one? what brand? Do you leave rice in it for more than a day? I mention Instant Pot because it came up when I did my search, but I'm not interested since I plan to only use it for rice.

I have one. My mom is Japanese so it's a requirement. LOL. Mine is a zojirushi. I don't leave rice in it for more than 12 hours but my mom and sisters do in theirs. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004S9RR5U/

Hi, we use a rice cooker. The one I have is an Oyama brand from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I chose this because of the stainless steel cooking bowl. Since we use one daily, I found that the non-stick bowls they sell with the other brands tend to peel off after time which is not good for your health.

I like the idea of a stainless bowl. But I do want to mention that I've had various rice cookers for over 20 yrs, all Zojirushi brand, and make rice a lot. None of the inner bowls have ever gotten a scratch on them. I only use the plastic rice paddles in them and hand wash them.

I have one (unfortunately don't recall brand, will look if you care) that can also be used as a slow cooker, which I liked because I don't need a slow cooker too often. However, it has been a problem a few times when I wanted rice to go with my slow cooked whatever. (Hence part of my justification in buying an instant pot, lol!) I've never known anyone to keep the rice going for days, although I can see how that makes sense for some people. However, I have kept it warm for several hours in mine with no problem. Also, mine (and many others) has a delayed start option that might cover what you need - make smaller batches but more often, perhaps.

I have a Zojirushi and my bowl is scratched, but I'm sure it was due to someone using a metal spoon in it. I don't like the stainless bowls (IP), as I've had rice stick and I prefer cooking rice without having to add any oils. The only thing I don't like about my Zojirushi is that it no longer keeps time and there's no easy way to replace the internal battery. Not sure whether the newer models have fixed that.

Thanks guys!!
I'm still not sure which brand yet, but I think the idea of making smaller batches sounds like a good one. People seem to be split on leaving rice for a few days and not doing that, but the more research I do the more I think I'm a little too easily grossed out to try using a cooker that way. I'm actually going to stop by Bed Bath and Beyond this weekend because I didn't even know they carried rice cookers and I can use a coupon. I need t

We have a fuzzy logic Panasonic. Rice cookers are great you should definitely get one. The Zojirushi is generally regarded as the best. We don't leave rice in it more than 12 hours. Also, get one with fuzzy logic.
