Last night I was trying to find a post on Facebook and I was looking at a friend's feed. She had a post from over a year ago about a lost dog she was helping find. I remembered her posting about it and I followed the link to see if the dog was found (yes!) There was another link on THAT page to the Instagram of a different stolen dog (a labradoodle) who was taken last year.
I clicked on that to check out if that dog had ever been recovered (yes!) and looked at all his sweet photos. As I was clicking through the photos, up popped a picture of a different friend with her standard poodle. Apparently someone who followed this Instagram account thought her dog looked like a stolen dog, took a picture, and sent it to the bereft owner who posted it. People were accusing her of looking sketchy and others were posting how to track her down. (This was over six months ago.)
I emailed her the link and she thought it was wild that her picture ended up on that Instagram account.
Anyone else fall down the rabbit hole of the Internet? What strange things have you found?

I have a FB friend who likes to link things from Imgur, todays was a man with the word 'bus' written on his face trying to juggle peanuts. He was sad because his hands were made of bread...or something I always click on her links and fall down a hole of weirdness.

Oh dear lord, the X-Factor-audition rabbit holes on YouTube.... It can consume hours and hours of my day (and nights)

I can get like a dog on a rabbit trail sometimes. Usually it's something like a story that makes the news so I decide I want to see this person's facebook page and from that I'll see their relatives or maybe a user ID and start looking at all their shit all over the internet. Found out some national news story (from local) that the person wasn't nearly as innocent as the media made it out to be. Don't want ppl to know? Keep your trap shut on the internet.

I get distracted finding more info on Facebook about friends/acquaintences from my younger years. They're not my facebook friends and I don't want them to be, but I'm curious what they're doing now.
It really is a small world in my circle of friends. I recently saw that my new son-in-law's parents are friends with a guy I dated in college (who turned out to be a real jerk). They have always lived in PA and didn't go to college. Ex has lived in HI for the last 28 years. His wife is from HI. I have no idea how those two would have been connected!
