These packs really get through to me too - and if there's nothing handy to hack at them with the dratted pill can eventually, after a great struggle, come out squashed leaving the powder still in the remaining 'bubble'! Blister packed things in general must surely account for a large number of visits to Emergency Departments throughout the world!!

I can't stand those foil - blister packs either. I'm like, I already have a headache and now you are going to make it worse by making be struggle with getting this darned thing open? I was on a daily prescription medicine for a while that came in blister packs. I was so glad that when my doctor changed it back to one that came in a bottle

Ask your pharmacist for one of the little pill popper gadgets they use. Our pharmacist gives them out with any meds that come in blister packs. Thanks for the tip. I'm going to have to go and get one.

I've never had a problem with the foil blister packs. Maybe ours are different than yours? As for child-proof bottles, I'm having some issues with arthritis, and I have to get someone to open the bottles for me (I swear those things are adult-proof). My children are 19 and 20, so I don't need child-proof stuff.

Can I say that I literally cried when I got home from the ER at 2:30 am with a broken wrist and found that the pain medication they gave me had a child safety cap that couldn't be opened one-handed? I then woke my dh up crying so he could open it for me. It didn't make me feel like a big baby or anything... I know how you feel. I changed pharmacies because my pharmacist put my arthritis meds in a child proof bottle. I live alone and have no one to open them for me. After asking multiple times to have my meds in an easy open bottle I switched pharmacies and that pharmacist figured out that I would need an easy open bottle without me even asking. That said I despise the the packets. I will pay more to buy something in a bottle. That totally sucks, ladies. Both of these scenarios are just wrong. Like a bad sketch on Saturday Night Live. And while we're bitching about blister packs, can I just add would it kill them to put the expiration date all over the back? This way when you break off a sleeve to keep in your purse or take on vacation, you know how long it's good for.

I've never had a problem with the foil blister packs. Maybe ours are different than yours? Some brands have really tough foil that won't puncture with the pressure of pushing the pill from the other side. Others have tiny tabs on the corners of each pill compartment that they want you to bend back, then peel the foil off. Only the tiny tab breaks when you bend it, or it only grabs a strip of the foil as it peels off, leaving the pill still trapped behind the backing.
