I don't know if it's the pens or me. I've tried storing laying horizontally, I've tried making sure they're capped up tight. But I can't get them to last. If I don't use for a while they stop drawing ink - even though this pen was almost brand new w/tons of ink in the barrel Any other suggestions? I even pulled the nib out to try to wet it w/alcohol but it was hopeless and the full length of the nib (about 1.5") was dry. No more precision pens for me.

My precision pens have held up ok so far. I store them vertically. I wonder if that makes a difference. If you are looking for a new pen, the Micron pens are awesome. They write nicely and they also work on photos, vellum and acetate.

My precision pens have held up well and I store them horizontally! Not sure what the issue is.

I have the same issue. They just don't last. I like Le Pen pens for journaling and it comes in nice colors.

I love my micron pens for journalling. I'm still in search of the perfect white pen for journalling though. They always dry out on me.

I love my micron pens for journalling. I'm still in search of the perfect white pen for journalling though. They always dry out on me. My favorite white pen is the Uni-ball Signo broad. (UM-153) It's a pigment ink, so I do have to blot after writing.

I absolutely LOVE the Sakura Glaze pens. They have a raised/embossed look when dry and come in a variety of colors. It's a wider line width (0.7) and looks really nice when used for journaling.

I have one and it's been fine so far - but I think it has too wide a nib for me. Didn't pay enough attention when I bought it. But glad to hear it will last.

That is what I use.

I've used the same black ZIG Writer dual tips for about nine years and they never disappoint. The perfect size fine tip for journaling and a marker end if I need it.
American Crafts pens never seem to hold up, no matter how hard I wish they would!

I've had my micron pens since I started scrapping before 2000. I took a 15 year break. They still work.

I've had my micron pens since I started scrapping before 2000. I started scrapbooking in 1998 and I am still using Sakura Micron pens I bought then, they still work. As for the American Crafts pens I have had bad luck with them drying up fast.

Slick Writers are my favorite and I've never had issues with them even after a 5 year break.

I love the precision pens, its the slick writers that I gave up on. They were always drying out. I have stored them vertical and horizontal, but mostly horizontal. I use them a lot, so haven't really noticed them drying out. I have abandoned more of the scrapbooking brands for things like that and prefer to by the Japanese pen brands. jetpens.com is good resource.

The AC precision pens (and the Becky Higgins branded pens) either dry out too fast (sometimes straight out of the box) or leak at the end and get everywhere. I've given up and now just use pigma microns.

Yeah, I bought one ONCE and it dried out very fast. I use Sharpie pens and have just given up on white. If I'm dying for white, I'll just stamp something and heat emboss it.

The only ones I store horizontally are the ones with two ends like Zig pens. All the rest (including my precision pens) I store tip down so the ink is gravity fed into the tip keeping it wet. I use the precision pens all the time and don't have any problems with them drying out unless they're used up. I have had problems with the AC white opaque markers drying out too fast though but haven't found a better alternative.
