Here, this will help: . . . . . . . . .
OK...it probably didn't help...
BUT I have an even bigger problem than you do, the bastards opened one of those Doughnut Time shops right around the corner from where I live, literally 15 mins walk away, and in an area that I walk past several times a week. Gah. The other day I was quite pleased with myself because I walked right past on the way to do my grocery shopping and didn't stop and get one.
Except on the way home I caved and I bought a "Creme De La Crème" which is creme brulee custard-filled and topped with toffee.

Just trying to help! It's what I was eating. Now it's pretzels. Which are also nothing that will satisfy when you want a donut or a dozen. That will still work...it's even more efficient just to combine the two:
mmmm...doughnut AND pretzels

I have to drive by an amazing bakery several mornings each week. Some mornings the craving is extreme and the only thing keeping me from stopping is having pajama pants on and my hair up in a knot... Since reading this tread, all I can think about is getting dressed and ready for the day before making this trip this morning...... ACK!!

My mama and I were on a road trip last week and she wanted Dunkin Donuts one mornings. I got the plain cake type which I used to love, but it didn't taste like I remembered. Probably a combination of my tastes changing as well as a difference in the way they are made. So console yourself with that... it won't taste near as good in real life as it does in your fantasies.

Eat a dam donut already!! Seriously, I get it! I'm proud of you for lasting THREE weeks! I would have caved in the first day. Aw hell. Who am I kidding? I wouldn't make it past the first hour. I would if I could eat just one but one won't cut it. I understand what you're saying here, but I still think you should eat the donut. For me, problems start when I tell myself (like you are doing now) that I CAN'T have something. My philosophy is that if I eat healthy, I can OCCASIONALLY have a sweet treat, or whatever. So when someone brings in cookies to the office, I think, do those look so good that I am willing to use up my "cookie credit" and eat one, or should I wait for something better that might appear tomorrow or the next day? Usually, I have no trouble waiting for something better. However, if I had a craving for a donut that lasted a week, let alone 6 weeks, I would eat a donut. Maybe think of it as your real challenge isn't avoiding donuts forever, it's learning how to eat ONE donut, every now and then, to satisfy a craving. JMO.

We have several amazing places to get donuts in my town. We have a "Donutland"...OMG, amazing. Our local grocery chain also has amazing donuts, and is a very fond childhood memory for me in getting them with my mom and grandma. One of our biggest gas station chains also has amazing donuts. I drive by all of these everyday. Ugh, it's hard to resist.

A 7/11 opened up about 5 minutes down the road from me. They sell Krispy Kremes. I am feeling your pain.

Just have one. I don't see the point of making a big deal about not eating something... that's just a set up for failure. Have a donut or two, enjoy it and move on. Moaning about it and not having one is just self-sabotage.

Dunkin Donuts leave a film in my mouth. I am no longer tempted by them. Dunkin Donuts are nasty. I prefer the ones from our grocery store bakery.

Dunkin Donuts leave a film in my mouth. I am no longer tempted by them. YES! I was craving a donut so bad a few months back and went into Dunkin (because they're on EVERY corner here!) and I was so disappointed! I still have moments when I want one but then I remember and it's much easier to move on. Thank goodness we don't have anything better (that I know of) around!

That's it! femalebusiness just get yourself a Dunkin Donut. Just one. You'll be so disappointed you won't want another donut for awhile.

I went to bed last night finally not thinking about donuts, then I open this thread this morning and ...I want donuts. Writing it down didn't have exactly the effect that I thought it would. I've lasted this long without giving in so I've decided if I still want donuts in September by god I'm going to buy a box.

And y'all talking about how nasty DDs are and I am totally agreeing with you all, but it is making want to grab some "HOT NOW" Krispy Kremes so badly!!!! I hate you all. But I loves me a donut! It has been about three years since I've eaten a donut and I want donuts. I don't want a couple of donuts, I want a couple of dozen. I want chocolate cake with chocolate icing, glazed, maple bars, cinnamon rolls, white cake with pink frosting and sprinkles. I want to just sit with a big box of them and eat them all. I have been wanting to eat donuts for at least six weeks. I have resisted thinking the craving would pass but it has lasted for SIX weeks. I'm not going to give into the damned craving but I just wish it would go away... Crap, I thought I would feel better if I wrote that all out but now I just want donuts MORE. Life is short. Eat the donut.

I do love a warm Krispy Cream, They went out of business here several years ago. Thank goodness. People sold them for fund raisers. Did Dunkin' Donuts run them out of town? We still have Krispy Kreme down near Park Meadows but I never go there. My daughter used to ask her boyfriend to drive her to the Springs just to get DD. We now have several in Denver, one about 2 miles form the house. We also have Voodoo, Fractured Prune and some other gourmet type shops. Seldom do I want a donut but the other day I was like femalebusiness and was craving one but unlike her, I gave in. It was ok, too sweet and not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I would have been happier with some Chipotle tortilla chips (no guac).

SaveThis is what I do too. I go to the grocery store (when I actually break down and go, as noted upthread) and fill the cart with all this healthy stuff. Not even chips, pretzels, cookies or sugar cereal for the kid. I get home, unload all the stuff I just bought and put it all away. Sit down and think about having a snack, because you know, now I'm hungry and tired. Look in the fridge. Nothing I want. Look in the cupboards. Nothing I want! Seriously, I *just got back from the GROCERY STORE.* Why the heck didn't I buy anything GOOD? Story of my life. The worst part is I was reading the Instant Pot thread last night and people were talking about making mac and cheese in it and I mentioned that to DH. His response? "Prove it!" Which is his way of saying, "when are you going to make that?" In order to make it, I would need to have some heavy cream which is something I would buy at the *grocery store* because we never have it on hand. And going to the grocery store puts me right smack in the heart of donut territory at the same time I'm already thinking about donuts. Definitely NOT a good thing.

I was surprised that KC closed, but I can't blame DD. They never seem to have the business. Do you have and Amy's Donuts? They are pretty popular here. And the salty chips at Chipotle are the best.
