Red vines are disgusting. When we went to the states for the first time we bought some for a movie so disappointed.
I love twizzlers and nibs too!!

I still like the green ones, which are spearmint flavoured here in Canada! Sounds gross now that I've typed it out...

Some of you have lost all movie invitations from me. I don't know how you can eat Twizzlers. Even my husband, who grew up in Twizzler land, much prefers Red Vines. He says he didn't know what he was missing.
Next you are going to tell me you want popcorn without the butter.

The best chocolate covered licorice is from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory. So good. I also prefer twizzlers. I had red vines in the states once and they tasted like stale twizzlers to me. Black licorice is awesome, I too love the Dutch salty ones. Have you have chocolate covered gummy bears??? OMG whole other level!

I guess now I see why Red Vines and Twizzlers are still in business. So many seem to like them. They are both ick to me. My favorite used to be the Brach's Red Licorice Twists but they haven't sold them in years. Because of this thread I went on the search for something similar. Seems that there are three that might be similar, and I am going to hunt them down and try them. If they are like my old, beloved Brach's I could be one happy woman. **Bass Pro Uncle Buck's Classic Red Licorice **Gander Mountain House Brand **Bricktown Good Classic Red Licorice Trying Bricktown first because it's what I can find the quickest on Amazon.

Strawberry Twizzlers for the win! I can eat one or two red vines but then they the wax tastes gross. DH gets Twizzlers every time we go to the movie. Most of the time we'll stop by a gas station and get a big bag, and he'll eat the whole thing by himself during the show. The bags at the thater only have like 10 pieces...not nearly enough!

Now that you talked about green ones I think I remember seeing green before but in an apple flavor but spearmint? Not sure how that sounds but I would try it

I love them both. It just depends on my mood, I guess, although I really try not to buy any unless for special occasions (family trips usually). I also love black licorice (Vines) and I love Chocolate Twizzlers (those are my favorite if I were to choose), but really if I had a bag of any of them next to me, I would devour it all (hence the reason I don't buy them).

I'm starting to wonder if we are talking about the same Twizzlers and Red Vines or if there are different recipes on different sides of the country or something... like Smarties in the US and Smarties in Canada.

I like both! But does anyone remember back in the late 1960's they made the vines in purple and they were grape flavored? I can remember eating some of those at my great grandmothers house. I can still smell the "grape" flavor when the bagged was opened. I've never seen them again.

Nope, These were in a flat package and were spiraled around. It was one long whip. But I bet those would taste good! Thanks for looking!

Ok, who was it here who said Red Vines were so much better than Twizzlers?!?? We were in the States recently and I picked up a jumbo bag of Red Vines on your recommendation. They are horrible! So waxy, and what exactly is the flavour supposed to be? They taste like stale bubble gum. Rant over (for now) *Twizzlers Forever* Yes, yes Twizzlers Forever. I had to stop at the drug store today and right when I entered there was a big display of Twizzlers and they were on sale. So I got me some.

Red Vines - grew up in California And one of the best things to do with Red Vines is to bite the ends off and use one as a straw for drinking your Diet Coke (used to be TAB). It gets all cold and hard. YUM! I was going to say: but you can't drink your soda through a twizzler at the movies
