We had a potluck and a band. Our Mayor, Chief of Police and other officers joined in the fun. It was a fun time! did your neighborhood celebrate? These are my parents:

Yes! Ours is located in the firehouse parking lot. It's always a good time and all the activities and food (hot dogs, soda, snow cones, cotton candy, soft pretzels) are free. Our town's first annual official fireworks show was delayed from July due to bad weather so we had an awesome fireworks display at the end of National Night Out last night.

We did. It was SO hot. The kids still had a good time and it was very well done. They gave away bike helmets, back packs, shoes - all kinds of stuff. Ended a bit early when a storm blew in.

No. That would mean that neighbors might actually have to interact with each other and heaven forbid that happen!

Ours did. Our HOA management company put it together in one of the parks in our subdivision. We had police cars, bomb squad, K-9 demonstration, fire truck, ambulance, and then some safety people from the County. They had free ice cream a couple of food trucks, a bouncy slide, and a few local sponsors (real estate agent, insurance, local businesses) had tents with giveaways. I took my firetruck obsessed 2-year-old up to see the fire truck and he was in heaven. It was a nice little community event.

Our neighborhood didn't do anything, but our town does and is very well supported.

Ours is in October also. Just too hot in August! But it's generally fairly well attended. P

They started celebrating in Oct. a few years ago. It's just too hot in August, plus so many people are gone on holiday. It's been fairly well attend since they moved the date. We don't go, but there are so many young families here now that do.

we don't..but they had an event in a high crime neighborhood on the other side of town. it's too cold to hang out outside at night... our side of town is pretty quiet. we have monthly police station meetings you can go to if you want. and frankly, there are very few kids around anywhere.

The state police barracks was advertising this for last evening at the mall. Saw them beginning to set up when I dropped my dad off. Had no idea what it was.

Our town had a get together at the park across from the police station. There was a good turn out.

Our Neighborhood Watch is currently planning something. We're also in Texas, so it's on Oct. 4th. We've had a rather drastic spike in crime in our neighborhood. Our entire city to be honest. The drug dealers and prostitutes like our nice, clean, quiet playground and pool area for their late night trysts. We need a National Night Out every night over here if we're going to effectively kick them out of our neighborhood.

Yes -- and a fire truck came by at the end for the kids to explore, which was awesome.

I had to google it, as I've never heard of it. It's meant to be a way for the police department and community to get together? Is that right? My town didn't have anything, but it looks like several in each county did.

They were all over Seattle yesterday. We didn't end up going to our neighborhood gathering, but it sounds like it was a pretty massive showing. There was a sort of high profile nasty racist ranting letter posted on the front porch of an interracial family a few blocks away from me that got a lot of attention, so people wanted to come out and specifically show support and inclusion and togetherness.
