I got a call the "Windows" call last night. The man with a thick accent said he's been getting errors from my computer.
Me: that's interesting since I'm not on a network.
He: do you go on the internet?
Me: I said no, I don't have the internet
He: But ma'am how do you search stuff on the internet? On Google?
Me: I live in the middle of nowhere and we don't have the internet here
He: Stunned silence. Then CLICK.
My DH asked what that was all about. I had fun. Yes I do actually have the internet, but so fun to mess with telemarketers.

I like to mess with them, too. I'll act all concerned and have him tell me to do a few things, then I'll let on that I'm on a Mac. Click. It's fun!

Yay for you! We have a call blocker machine. It has this beautiful big red button, like 2" in size. I can wind people up, then press the button in the middle of something I'm saying, so they think they've been cut off. They can try to call back all they want, the call blocker will not let that number through any more. It is SO satisfying to press that button. {snigger}

I still can't believe my friends DH fell for that rouse. They locked him out of his own computer and wanted lots of$$$ to restore it. They didn't pay it, and took it back to staples to have it reset back to factory settings and LOST everything they had on their computer...lesson learned I hope!

Because of our last name we are now getting telemarketing calls in Spanish and neither of us speak Spanish At least I think they are telemarketing calls, they have the same pattern of talking and not letting me get a word in to even tell them I don't speak Spanish!!

I get a ton of calls from Insurance telemarketers despite being on a no call list and asking repeatedly to be taken off the list. UGH. Now the calls go just like the one last night did. Them: Something something Insurance? Me: (In English) I'm sorry I don't understand English. Them: But you are speaking perfect English. Me: Really, I profusely apologize I don't understand a word of perfect English. Them: Silence Them: Um Them: Silence Them: Hang up

I would do the opposite.. Ask them to please speak Spanish. confuse the hell out of them.

Hubby pretends not to understand and starts asking about Windows. Are they vinyl? Are they double hung? How long do they take to install? We actually just did get new windows so he proceeded to tell them all about our new Windows. They eventually hang up.
