I have a certain price point in my head for each embellishment and scrapbooking product that I will not pay more than x for y. It would have to be something that truly wows me to pay more for it.
For example:
Washi tape - $1 a roll. I've yet to find a washi tape so incredible that I need to spend more than a buck a roll.
Patterned paper stacks/pads - No more than $9.99, as they are always on sale for that much. Or if they aren't, I can use a coupon to make them that much or slightly less.
Cardstock packs of 50 sheets - I try to keep it to under $3 a pack. I just stocked up at A C Moore, buying 4 packs for $10.

Well, I don't like paying full price for anything. LOL I'd like to get it all for at least 40% off, but I can't do that at the LSS. In that case, I don't like spending more than $5 on any type of embellishment. It drives me nuts that enamel dots are that much. I usually only buy paper pads, or packs at Hobby Lobby, so I won't buy those full price. I don't really think TOO much about the cost of papers. I just buy what I like.

For me it's situational. If I'm at a chain store, I hate paying full price for anything because I know they get additional discounts and dating on their orders, and they jack up the price to begin with, so it has to be on clearance, deeply on sale or I buy it with a coupon. If I'm shopping at a LSS I'll cruise the clearance aisle first, but then I'll look for stuff that I want but can't buy at a chain and will happily pay full price for things I would otherwise have to buy online and pay shipping on and consider it a win. I have no problem supporting a small independent business as long as they're not pricing stuff way over MSRP.
All of our LSSs have closed, and I have to drive about an hour and a half at minimum to get to one so when I do get a chance to shop at a real store I make the most of it.

I don't have a limit on what I would pay for a particular item. Most washi tape, etc, I get as a set. And I get most of my pp in collection packs.
I used to say you could sell me anything interesting for $20 or less. Sadly, our Canadian dollar has slipped in value while my $C income has stayed the same, but my FOMO has not slipped at all, so I think that line has now moved up to $30C.
I like to buy on sale, but I also like new and exciting, so I buy both. Also when I am in town and see something I really like, it will probably find itself in my shopping bag because I don't know when I will be back or if this particular item will be available when I am.

Dies and Stamps - If a die costs $29.99, am I going to use it 30 times to make it $1.00 each time I use it? Same thing with stamps. I try not to buy enamel dots unless they are a sale price unless they match a collection I am buying. I would not use a whole card on a page/layout, but still...$4.99 is a lot. I use liquid pearls instead to make my own enamel dots.
I just bought a school bus die for $6.00 - I thought long and hard before I decided that I could find 6 times to use it.
paper - wow that has gone up in price lately. I am glad I do not layer much. And I have quite a stock of CS at home which I have collected over the past 10 years of scrapping.

It totally depends on if I need it or just want it.
If I am trying to get a jolies, for example, that will be perfect for a layout but isn't in stores anymore, I will pay pretty much whatever it costs - like say $10 or more?
I was at Expo and saw some double wide gold metallic washy with pineapples and I think I paid $4.99 for it.
An LSS I sometimes get to visit near my mom's has paper from Sweden and it is almost $3 a sheet, and I will pick up a piece or two that I love.
Albums? I like to pay under $20.
Also at the same LSS I saw some old Karen Foster golf themed brads and I paid about $5.99 for them but I wanted to work on a golf page and there wasn't much to choose from so I got them to make my theme page but if I had other themed stuff I wouldn't have bought them.

I make it a point not to buy anything full-price at HL unless it's something I just absolutely need immediately. If I'm hunting for something that is hard to find, discontinued, etc., then I am willing to pay more than I would for current lines - exactly how much depends on the item and the scarcity. When I am able to get to a LSS, it's no-holds-barred! I love the instant gratification and no shipping fee to boot. Save

Most of my money is spent on stamps but I do use them. I too try not to pay full price but if I like it/want it I pay for it.

Unfortunately, I have to pay a lot more than most of you probably do in the US. The NZ dollar isn't doing that well, so everything costs me an arm and a leg whether I buy locally or in the US and have it shipped. Example - stamp set from Papertrey Ink that costs US$24 probably about NZ$39 once you include shipping. Patterned paper - at least NZ$2 per sheet, even in a big box store, thickers NZ$9-12 in a big box store, American crafts paper pad NZ$12-17 in big box store.
I've been thinking about a SB subscription from Hip Kit. That would work out to NZ$60 per month with the bi-monthly shipping option - yikes! But that's still cheaper than buying all the individual items here (a lot of which are not typically available).

Full retail--and that's saying a lot from me. I recently ordered the doodlebug flamingo and cactus clips and washis for full price because they were the cutest things I'd ever seen.
I'll pay full price for sheets of paper I adore too. But I really try to buy on sale.

I am more likely to set a budget for a shopping excursion (online or in LSS) than for one particular item.

$200+ for an upgraded electronic cutter seems like so much money so I am still using my Cricut Expression. But yet I spend $20 here and $20 there which ends up totaling $200 so I am only fooling myself. LOL
