I prepped a whole chicken, stuffed with lemon, thyme and garlic as per Ina Garten recipe. ( can't link at moment) it even has bacon strips on top- carnivores unite.
After it was prepped and in fridge, to be roasted when I get home tonight from meetings, I noticed wrapper in trash said Fryer. Ugh. I rarely cook a whole bird. Is it going to be a failure? It looked so good in pan- well as good as a naked chicken with raw bacon can look. (Vegetarians, I hope the title was enough to prevent you from opening this thread.)
Any suggestions? It's surrounded by lemon wedges, do I add some broth too so it's not too tough?

It's totally fine. Fryer is just a smaller, younger chicken.

I'm a veg but played a carnivore on TV. The fryer will be fine, they are usually just smaller than roasters so your yield will be less. Fryers are not as old or tough as roasters so they can be quick cooked without getting tough. Roasters are older and benefit from the slow cooking. So you should be just fine. Sounds good. I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I have to prepare roast chicken for the family (I am the only veg in the family and regularly prepare meat for others).

Awww...I had no idea the chickens were so young... Just don't think about it! Yes. The downside of us omnivores!!!! Closing my ears and humming now. It was excellent!!! The recipe called for a 5 -6 lb and I had two that totalled 7. I made a mistake not letting it sit before serving. Lesson learned- the second chicken I shredded for tacos would have been almost perfect with tonight's asparagus and rice. Thanks Refugees, you are the neighbors I do not have in real life
