I got all excited and checked American Eagle, and sure enough they have jeans that would fit my tall-and-skinny boy! But then I saw the prices, and dang, y'all are rich if you think the cheapest pair of jeans ($39.95) is "not too bad." Reality check! I'm bummed out again. DS wears a belt to keep his 30x32 pants up. He really needs 29x32, but that does not exist in truly affordable stores. They run 50% off sales fairly often.

My 19 year old 6 footer wears 30/34 or 30/36. I get a lot of his pants at Aeropostale online. Great sale prices.

He really needs 29x32, but that does not exist in truly affordable stores. The Jeans DS wants from AE are $54 each. if you buy 4 or more pairs of pants online they are 35% off. making them $35 a pair. While I know that seems high. I have SUPER picky boys. he wants something softer, so I tend to give in. Hollister jeans are $25 on sale right now. Which is a great deal. So that is where my starting point it. I also compare it to the fact that if I were buying ONLY Levis for him, like I do the older one. $35 is a great price. Levis right now are running $40 a pair around here for back to school. Our DS only wears jeans, so I want to make sure I get him a few pairs that he is completely comfortable in. I also have a very curvy DD and she went along to AE today, She LOVED their jeans. She could actually put the "skinny" jeans on and her thighs did not look like they were huge. So we are getting her a few pairs from their as well. AND HOLLISTER Carries a 29 x 32. our DS was wearing a 28 x 32 and that is where we were getting them. I think $25 a pair for jeans is completely reasonable. I paid more than that for the jeans my dad gets from Walmart at Christmas and I have paid more than that for Jeans at Target and Penneys. if you spend more than $50 at hollister, shipping is free. You might check them out. The Flex jeans have a little bit of stretch to them too, making the fabric softer and has a little bit of room for growing, but not enough to need a belt.

My 19 YO ds is 6'1 1/2" (Just measured him last week, lol). Buying pants for him was an utter nightmare. As you know, the longer lengths only come in the bigger waist sizes. I don't get these clothing manufacturers. Our two boys can't be the only one's with this problem, right? You mentioned Hollister and that was the only place I found pants to fit my ds. He wears a 30 and wears them low on his hips so they are long enough. He doesn't wear shoes with a tall sole (Van's, flip flops, Converse, etc.). Can your ds stand to lower them a little without showing everything? He already wears them lower on his waist. You should check out AE for your DS. We went today, the jeans are nice, very comfy my kids said. We are ordering online, they have 35% off when you buy 4+ pairs. We are getting some for my DD, she is 16 and has some curves. it has been a NIGHTMARE to get her clothes. She ends up crying, and I end up mad and we leave with nothing. She tried AE jeans on today and LOVED them! and they actually looked good on her, even for skinny jeans. So we are getting her a few pairs as well. The online sale for 35% off was better than the in price of buy one get one 50% off.

I had the same issue with both of my DS's. I can tell you that 30 is probably the smallest waist size you will find in a brick and mortar store, so if he can wear a 30, that's a good start. Surprisingly, Walmart and JC Penney both had good selections in this waist size with a longer inseam, like 34". In fact, Walmart carries pretty nice khakis in this size (DS needs them for band), and they are inexpensive. If I remember right, Kohl's carries some 30/34s, but anything in a 30 waist seems to sell out there immediately. he was a 28 before. In stores, the only pants we could get in a 28 was Levi's then we were in Hollister one day and noticed they had 28's The waist I am not having an issue with finding, its the waist with the right length.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We went to American Eagle today and those Jeans ROCKED! A little bit more $$ that we usually pay, but hoping they last. They did have a 30x34 in store. but the sale online is a bit better than in store today. So I am ordering tonight. My DD even found some jeans that fit her ( she is 16 and curvy, so it makes it hard to shop), so today was a WIN, WIN! We have a bit of time before WE NEED Pants.... since it will still be in the 90's here until the end of Sept. But I want to be sure they have a few pairs in their drawers if we get a cold front. You never know what the weather is going to be in KS from one day to the next. We have had snow as early as the 1st week of october and we have had days in the spring were we are under a winter weather advisory / watch / warning & Tornado watch all in the same day!

I will be no help.
My son wears a 32x34, because we can't find 30x34. 30 inches is big in the waist. So, he positively floats in the 32s. But, he must have 34 in length. It doesn't help that he has no butt.
He likes the Urban Pipeline brand from Kohl's.
He also owns a numerous amount of belts.

Get online and order him a pair of Jeans ( or 2 or 3) from American Eagle. get the ones with the flex, they are soft and they have a bit of stretch to them, so even if he grows, it will be ok. They come in many different colors & styles. ALL in a 30 x 34!

Honestly, before today. I had never stepped foot in there. I have to tell you, I was surprised. I was expecting it to be expensive. yes, prices are a bit higher compared to some big box stores, but not really more than other "mall" stores. its not a place we will shop often, but to get a few things from every once in a while, its not bad. I was really surprised at their mens shirts. They are a nice weight, Not too thin ( like some places can be) and they were very soft! DS ended up getting 2 because he loved how soft they were.

Old Navy has 30/34 in both slim and skinny styles. This is where I get most pants too. I'll have to check out American Eagle. I can't remember the name of the store, but we were in the mall and looking at jeans. It wasn't until my son tried on 2 pairs of skinny jeans we realized we had found them in the womens section. It was one of those stores that has a lot of comic book, Star Wars stuff where most of the stuff looks unisex. He's 6'2" and 140 and it didn't look weird. They were on clearance and both under $15.
