What a funny thread to see right at the top. I just did this tonight. LOL I cooked some pasta for dinner that I was going to stir some homemade pesto into. Then, I got sidetracked watching my recorded Bachelor in Paradise, and the pasta ended up totally overcooked and gross. I dumped it out and started all over. No way was I going to ruin my homemade pesto with gross, mushy pasta. It did feel very wasteful though, and I was mad at myself for being careless.

No, my family prefers it on the overdone side. If it was just me I might.

I'm timer obsessed. I always set my loud annoying oven timer when I'm cooking.

a little overcooked - no, we go with it. A lot overcooked - if I can I do it over (extra pasta & time being key factors).

Nope, we'll just eat what we have. Nobody in my house seems to care much!

Nope. None of us are very picky and I really hate wasting food.

yes, pasta doesn't cost so it's worth cooking another batch rather than suffering through mushy pasta.

I don't think I have ever overcooked pasta. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Not unless it was totally inedible and had turned to mush; we prefer it more on the soft side than too al dente anyway. I also have a hard time wasting food.

I don't know how my family would feel about it, but I would definitely cook another box. I'm a strictly al dente girl .

A little soft, I will serve it - and have.
If it ever got to the point where it was mush, I would make another box. Pasta is one of my favorite meals and since it's relatively inexpensive, I'd rather enjoy it.

Yes, mushy pasta is passed the gross point for me. My mother always overcooked her pasta and when I learned what al dente was I learned a whole new appreciation for pasta. lol

I hate to waste food but I just can't eat it if it's overcooked. Luckily that only happens about once a year.

Yes, because overcooked pasta is positively revolting. Properly al dente cooked pasta is always worth waiting for.

It depends on how far overcooked it is. I take take it passed the al dente stage but if it has started to break apart I'll cook a new batch.

I've never overcooked pasta. I'm an impatient cook. I start spooning out pieces to check while they're still a little crunchy in the middle. Pasta is not something I start and then walk away from.

No. We'd just eat it.
However, I'm pretty attentive to pasta as it cooks because I can't stand mushy pasta. I set a timer for a minimum time and after it goes off I stick close to the stovetop so I can get it just right.

If it was way overdone then yes. If it was just past al dente we'd eat it.
But I'm pretty sure I've never overcooked pasta. I've made a million other cooking faux pas but that one has eluded me so far!
