Hi Peas,
I was asked to order a "single brew coffee machine that grinds its own beans and is just freaking kick-ass awesome"
Not being a coffee drinker, Google is sending me down the black hole.
Any recommendations? Cost wouldn't be a huge factor, nothing stupid expensive but they won't want to do this on the cheap either.
(Sorry if I am not giving enough detail. I don't really know what I'm asking for!)
Thank you, Peas!

YouBrew from BrevilleI love my Breville. Cups in various sizes as well as carafes. Makes fantastic coffee. I choose it over the Cuisinart because it gets better reviews. ETA for some reason I cannot get links to work when I am posting from my tablet. Google Beville YouBrew or grind and brew and you can get reviews.

ok now that I've looked at the link, that's a lot of money for a single cup brewed coffee machine. I'd just get the single cup Hamilton Beach one that has a little scoop inside in which you can put freshly ground coffee. It'd be cheaper to buy a grinder and the HB.

Thanks for fixing the link for me. I agree it is pricey. I was able to use airmiles points to get mine for free. I was just thinking freaking kick-ass awesome could be a $300 machine.

This one doesn't have an attached grinder, but we LOVE our Bunn My Cafe pot. It can use k cups, pods, tea bags or loose tea or ground coffee. My husband & I are big coffee drinker, and my daughter use it to make tea. Bunn

This one is pricey, but oh so good. It steams milk for cappuccinos or lattes as well. Jura Coffee maker

Does the single cup option for the cuisinart still have to brew I to the pot? In the pictures it doesn't show. That Breville machine looks amazing!

From what I read when I was buying mine is the Cuisinart has to brew into the pot or carafe but you can make 2 cups. The Breville brews directly into a coffee cup or travel mug. The Breville has 9 different cup sizes you can choose. It grinds the beans and then steeps the coffee before pouring it into the cup. If the Breville is in your budget I highly recommend it. I like good coffee and this is the best machine I have ever owned.

I have the Breville YouBrew and I really like it. Fair warning, though, serious coffee connoisseurs probably won't be happy with it. There's a certain heat point that brewing should stay above and the YouBrew doesn't stay at that temp throughout brewing. Only a few machines do - like the Technivorm. But the Technivorm doesn't have an integrated grinder, nor does it have a timer setting (which were both deal breakers for me, personally). They do make a single cup maker, but it's a different machine from the one that can brew a whole pot, and that doesn't work for me.
I like the coffee from the YouBrew, but it's not the best coffee ever. But, for me, I actually use it because it's so flexible. A Technivorm may make marginally better coffee (to my taste), but that's not a benefit if I never use it because it doesn't fit my needs KWIM?

Way back when they first came out with the brew/grind machines, I looked into getting one. At that time, they were having problems with the steam from the coffee getting into the grinder area making damp grounds that wouldn't all spill into the next chamber. I had to pass on the idea. This was quite a few years ago, so I'm sure they've fixed that issue by now.
I currently have a Breville that takes Keurig cups that I'm very happy with. I also have a couple of Breville appliances and they are a very good company. I would buy a Breville machine with a grinder component.
That Bunn looks interesting too. The Jura is out of my league price wise.
