When did Pinterest start inserting board suggestions on your main Pinterest feed along with all of the regular pins? I keep seeing the photo for the board suggestion, not realizing that it is a board, but rather liking the photo and clicking on it as if it's a pin, only to wind up on some random person's board trying to find that one pin among the 759,326 pins they have in that board. Now, I readily admit that the fact that I have done this several times already says volumes about my observation skills and/or intelligence, perhaps, but even if I did realize right away that it was a board suggestion instead of a pin, I might still like the picture and wish I could easily locate said pin. Clear as mud?  |

I have dealt with that and yes it's annoying. Another thing that bothers me is I saw a shirt I liked and pinned it, then it was forever sitting on my homepage as a suggested pin so I deleted the pin. Yet it still pops up on my homepage. I don't know if it's the most popular shirt right now and everyone is pinning it? |

annabella in your settings, put your location as Qatar. I now have zero suggested or promoted pins.  I learned about it on the GS board! The suggested boards shows up on my cell phone, but I haven't seen it on my laptop.

I agree that it's annoying. But I've been annoyed with the 'picked for you' individual pins since they started those, too. I have my home feed set up exactly the way I like it. I browse through the Everything feed quite a bit, so I'm not missing stuff I want to see. Nine times out of ten, what that stupid algorithm picks for me is stuff I've already seen and not liked, or stuff I've already pinned.  |

I rarely bother going to pinterest anymore. I do searches sometimes and I pin things I want to save but I almost never look at my feed anymore.

My issue is I cannot get the pin it button to work in firefox. I have the Pinterest button that takes me to the site, but the pin it button will NOT work! I went through the process and it said it was downloaded and it does not show up like my ebates button.

I'm not sure exactly which doohickey I downloaded, but I do have a pinterest button in my firefox toolbar. HOWEVER, I never use it. What works for me is right clicking on an image I want to pin, and then choosing 'share image for pinterest.' HTH  I don't even think I have my location set in Pinterest. I'll have to check the next time I"m over there. |

See, I haven't seen too many if any of the "picked for you" pins lately. They're too busy tossing dozens of those red "follow" buttons on my page for boards.  What I did like before was that most of the time, you could hover over the picked for you pins and at there would be something you could opt out of which at least let me pretend that I had any control at all over what showed up on my page. Qatar seems so random, but hey, whatever works! OMGosh! When I went to see about moving to Qatar ( ), I see that there is actually a toggle switch to turn off the "picked for you" pins!! Huzzah!! Save |

I did that so many times, but I still get them  I'm going to try the suggestion to change my location, so we'll see what happens. I agree that the board suggestions are a PITA. Especially since there's no way to tell them you want to opt out. |

So now, i kind of want to go switching my profile to different countries to see if anything else is different. Yeah, I'm bored tonight. ETA: Well, no matter where I live, the board suggestions still show up, but hey, at least I found that handy dandy toggle switch to get rid of the picked for you pins, so it's still a win in one regard. I just got a note from Pinterest telling me that I could turn off the "picked for you pins". It's a new feature. I guess my constant complaining to them got through. I'm sure I wasn't the only one complaining. Since I went with Qatar, I have never seen an advertisement. Now I won't see picked for you pins. 2 wins!

I haven't had any issues with Pinterest, but hmm...I hadn't noticed about thinking a Pin is a pin and it's a board. I do get suggestions, but they are always spot on for me so I don't mind them at all. The thing that is driving me nuts though, is I constantly get pins for those stupid fold up flat shoes called Tieks. I don't click on them, I don't like them, I don't want them! $100 for fold up shoes. Err..no. Those ads have been on my Pinterest feed since the day they started advertising. PFFT. |

basketdiva , Ok, this is what you do. Go to your profile and click on the gear at the top left. (I'm on a computer so a phone might be a bit different.) Where it says Country put Qatar. Go on down and where it says Location put Qatar. Continue clear down to Home Feed. Change the yes to no on Picked for You pins. I hope that will help. Let me know if it works. oh yvonne, try the above and I think you will not get ads anymore.
