I need some new jeans. I have several from American Eagle that I like, but of course, they don't make that style anymore.
I'm 40...I don't want super low rise, but I also don't want "mom jeans".
I looked through the archives over at 2peas, but couldn't find any info.
Opinions on quality for the price? Are they "mom jeans"?

I love, love, love NYDJ! They fit every time. I don't have to try them on once I know my size. I have to have them shortened. I purchase them at Nordstroms and they shorten them for me. I love these jeans. If you watch they sometimes go on sale. Macy's and Lord and Taylor carry them too. I don't know if they do alterations.

I've been getting jeans at express because they are affordable - especially when they have a sale- and they look look on me. They aren't super low rise and don't give me muffin top (or I should say they don't SHOW my muffin top) and my three teen dds give them the stamp of approval.

I only have one pair but I love them.
I do think they run big. I wear a size 8 and my NYDJ are a size 6.

They don't work for my body shape, but my best friend LOVES them. She's also found that they run big.

I love them! And they are vanity sized, so you wear a size down from what you do in most other jeans. They are worth every penny though.

I've found that if your thighs rub together at all, the fabric wears out quickly. I've also found fit to be inconsistent between styles, although not so much as some other brands. I only buy them on sale - I like them, but they aren't as good for me as some other brands.

I love them, too. They do run big. I normally wear a 6 or 8 in jeans and I wear a 4 in NYDJ. The fabric is so nice!

Ive never tried these on, but check out the jeans at White House Black Market. They have a few different styles to fit different shapes. I've found I'm very consistent size-wise in the fit that works for me. They do run long, but the "shorts" are perfect on me. The "regular" length is good if I want to wear heals/wedges etc. Sometimes I buy the same pair in both lengths if I really, really like them. If you find your shape on the sale rack, even better.

They run big. I found that the pair I tried on in the dressing room expands later when I am at home so I go for the pair that is snug vs baggy.
I think they are worth the $ as my are in great condition several years later.

I agree, the thighs wear out. I have several pairs of crops from them and the black ones wore out in the thigh before anything else.
I don't have any of their regular jeans - for some reason they don't fit as well as the crop/pedal ones.

I bought some gorgeous ones for fall. They are a medium brown colour and kind of shiny and OMG they are so nice. I just need to lose about 5 lbs and they will be perfect!
I just need to starve a bit...

I've tried petite, but they are too short.......when I was trying to figure all of this out all I could think of was Goldilocks and the 3 Bears! Too long, too short, then just right occurred when I had them hemmed!

I liked my trouser jeans at first, but I feel like they faded quickly even though I washed them inside out and hung them to dry.

Too long, too short, then just right occurred when I had them hemmed! Ugh, I can relate! I'm 5'4", and according to the official descriptions, petite is up to 5'3" and regular fits 5'5" and up. Hello, where does Goldilocks fit in?

Their jeans don't fit me well, but for some reason their cords do. I love those.

I love these jeans. Their sizes are on the larger side, so I go a size down from usual jean size. Love how they fit!

I've tried NYDJ and I did like them. I do also agree with the others' comments about the thigh area. For the same money, though, I like Chico's jeans a lot more (and they are definitely not mom jeans!). Once I found my preferred Chico's style and size, I buy most of my jeans online at some pretty nice sale prices.

I love my NYDJ. For me the sizing is perfect, except the petites are too short and the regulars are too long. I get them on sale at Macy's.

I've tried them several times because so many people love them. But, I don't. I really don't care for the fabric. I want regular denim, I guess.

I have tried them on a couple of times but have never bought any. I didn't they were that great to spend that kind of money on. I didn't like the feel of the denim. I do have a couple of friends who think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I do like them - particularly the cords, but different cuts affect the sizing. They fit me better than other brands, and I think they wear well.
