We love all of them! My favorites so far are Yosemite and Bryce We went to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce last month, and Bryce was my favorite. Just loved the hoodos and the peacefulness of the park. We stayed in the park in cabins that we fantastic. We were at the North Rim July 25-29. Cabin #91. Loved it there, so relaxing at peaceful.

My family is vacationing in Maine over Labor Day and we plan to spend a day biking through Acadia. I can hardly wait! We are going to get passports so our kids (and us, I suppose) can start tracking the parks we visit. Any tips for Acadia from those who have been there?

I love the National Parks!
I've been to Arches, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Sequoia, King's Canyon, Yellowstone, Badlands, Grand Tetons, Wind Cave, Petrified Forest, Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Haleakala, Hawaii Volcanoes, Hot Springs, Great Smoky Mountains, Kenai Fjords and Denali.
My favorites are Yellowstone, Denali, and Volcanoes (we went several years ago, hiked out fairly close to where the lava was flowing, stayed until after dark - the lava flow was really an awe inspiring sight.)
I hope to hit up some of the parks in the Northwest in the next couple of years.

I've been to 32 National Parks so far and it's hard to choose a favorite! They're all great, but if forced to choose only one, I'd say Glacier National Park. (I just changed my number by one because Pinnacles wasn't on the list I looked at and I was there a few years ago.)

We LOVE ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/W4b_Om5roEadLiOzGo_l.jpg) National Parks. We try to visit a new one each year. I need to count up where all we've been. It would be very difficult to pick my favorite, but I grew up going to Yosemite every summer, so I have so many fond memories there. As an adult, two at the top of my list would be Glacier and the Grand Canyon. pudgygroundhog, this thread is made even better by your pictures. Thanks.

Yosemite is still my favorite. It is just so beautiful. I went there in '87 and '92. We have also been to Acadia, Great Smokey Mountains countless times as it is so close, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Grand Tetons, and Olympic.

Last time we were there we picked up an inexpensive booklet at the visitor center that had great info and details by the mile for the Park Loop Road - very handy. Cadillac Mountain at sunrise is popular (or any time), as well as getting popovers at the Jordan Pond House (you can hike the Bubbles nearby), stopping at Sand Beach, doing the Precipice or Beehive trails if you are not afraid of heights, stopping at Thunder Hole, and stopping at Otter Cliffs. Also lots of trails and carriage roads for hikes/biking. Enjoy!

well.. I am partial to my home town parks... North Cascades...worked not for nps but right in the middle of it one summer, Mt Rainier..climbed it and made summit two times one summer..and staffed a lookout in the park part time, and Olympic.. have hiked all over the whole thing.
My professional career goal was an interpreting ranger at NPS. I did it.. I had full time, benefit position with NPS..still have my smokey the bear hat. Worked at Lowell NHP, and Alcatraz and Ft Point in Golden Gate NRA, then we moved overseas, I had kids and gave it up. I have a degree with a speciality in environmental education/interpretation.
so I have been to many NP all over the west and some in the northeast. I am thankful I spent my youth backpacking all over washington state.
I still backpack, but creaky knees and old age keep me limited to short trails. one of the crown jewels in WA is the Cape Alava triangle trail I first hiked it at 5, and have several times since. it is totally wild pacific ocean beach.. I posted facebook pictures today..dressed as a 1830's mill girl (made my own costume) and hiking down from the summit of Rainier.. can you tell I am a fan??

I've been to many, but Yosemite will always be my favorite. I will never forget the awe I felt the first time we drove through the Valley. I had never in my life seen anything like that. I've been many, many times since then and I find myself annoyed at how commercialized it has gotten and the way the crowds get thicker every year, but I still love it most. Glacier is a very close second with the fantastic Going to the Sun Highway.
DH and I argue over which is the best. He likes Yellowstone best because of the diversity.

I absolutely LOVE National Parks. We have visited 31 of the 413 National Park Sites, including 6 of the 59 National Parks.
Yosemite (my favorite so far) Rocky Mountains Black Canyon of Gunnison Great Smoky Mountains Congaree Everglades.
My kids love the Junior Ranger program, and they have a quite a little collection of Junior Ranger badges. My son was a 4th grader this past year, and we made good use of the Every kid in a park pass.
I can't wait to continue our adventures through the National Parks. We are not picky, we visit whatever National Parks/sites that we are near. My DH and boys enjoy battlefields, though I could leave them.

I've been to a few but my all time favorite is St. John U.S. Virgin Island. 2/3 of the island is a National Park! That means the island, the water and even the air space above (no planes can fly over it) are protected. We've been twice so far but I am so aching to go again! The vegetation is so thick it looks like scenes from Jurassic Park-in face it is called the Kauai island of the Caribbean. The water being protected means there is abundant sea life, coral and snorkeling is fantastic right from the beach. It is a gorgeous island!
We've also been to Acadia in Maine several times. I think 4 so far. We love it there. There is so much to see and Maine is very picturesque. With two photographers in the family it made sense to us to go back a few times.
I've also been to Shenandoah National Park-Skyline Drive (numerous times, used to live right next to is during my later teen years). Can't remember any others off the top of my head, but I haven't been out west yet to see the popular ones like Yosemite, Grand Canyon and so on. That is a trip DH and I are planning one day-especially for photos.

Someone posted this on FB yesterday and I laughed for quite a while... 1 Star Reviews of National Parks It amazes me that some people just don't get what the parks are about.

Beautiful. It was so windy and foggy when we were there, we didn't get to see much. It was still amazing though.

Just got my Senior Pass this summer out at Great Falls! Free admission to all the National Parks that charge admission.
We are so blessed to have such diversity of landscapes, ecology, environments of our Parks. From the Everglades (existing nowhere else in the world), to Denali (highest peak in N.A.), to Yellowstone (largest collection of geysers in the world), to Volcanoes (most active volcano in the world).
But I think my first sight of those Tetons growing straight up from the flats of Jackson Hole stays with me the most. Growing up on the east coast the Appalachians, Alleganies, etc. are older and worn down by erosion (though still spectacular).
Love me some National Park!!
